Since
alladinsane has recently implemented the
awesome feature of
tagging posts, I thought I'd give a quick tutorial on how to tag your posts.
What are tags? LJ sez:
Tags are words or short phrases used to organize your journal entries. Add tags to a new entry (or while editing an old entry) by typing the tag name in the Tags field. Separate multiple tags on the same entry with a comma (eg: "pets, rover"). You can also add tags to an old entry that by clicking the icon labeled "TAG" or the "Edit Tags" link on the entry. You can view and manage all your tags at the Tags Management page. More here
Why tag, you ask?

It makes navigating easier. If you want to find all posts in the community about, say,
guests, or even if you want to find out something about a particular guest, you can click the tag "
guests" on the
Community Tag Page, or even just click
dragoncon and look at the left side bar, towards the bottom you'll see the list of tags.

Why tag? Because I know I speak for a lot of us when we say we're tired of people asking the same questions over and over and over and over (and over and over), and not wanting to look through the community's previous posts for the answer before subjecting themselves to the ridicule of some of the vet members. This way, it makes it MUCH more efficient to look through past posts with regards to a particular subject to find your answer.
Now, HOW to tag...
1. Edit your post
2.

<-- See that button? Click it.
3.
Community tags: By default, only community maintainers can create new tags for the community and community members can add those tags to entries (any entry, doesn't have to be yours)
4. Community maintainers must add
new tags to entries before members can see or use them for entries. Meaning, you can only tag the entries with the tags that the community moderator has listed.
5. Maintainers can change community tag settings at the Tags Management page. If you post an entry with new tags, but do not have permission to create new tags or add existing tags, those tags will be removed from your entry.
Got that? Now I know the moderator has the community set to "Moderated" so it takes a while before your post shows. You can go back once it posts and edit it so you can add tags from the community tag list to your entry (or you can add it as you're writing your post). It's really pretty simple.
Be sure to do your part in making things flow a lot more smoothly by tagging posts, so next year we don't have to deal with the onslaught of repeated questions and posts!
P.S.
