Does anyone have any experience with upgrading your hotel room reservation to a suite? Is this even something that the hotels do? And if so, are suites generally still available this close to the con?

And on a related note, does anyone know if the Sheraton even offers suites? I can't find anything on their website...I'm staying there at just a regular room, but I'd like something a bit larger if possible.

This will be my first year staying at the Sheraton and I just wanted to see if anyone cared to share their experiences with the hotel in the past? Are the rooms clean? Any spacing issues? Noise level? That kinda thing. Thanks!

Hi all. First time attendee to D*C and the parade. As such, I've never shipped a costume there. Am staying at the Sheraton and they said I can ship the costume down there.

Does anyone know the best way to ship a costume? It's a Cyberman made of foam, probably weighs less than 15 lbs. It's bulky so I am going to ship in a big box or rubbermaid container. I'm not sure when to ship (I've read the posts of charges for storage at the hotels) and which carrier, USPS, UPS or FedEx) I should use. Any advice?

If anyone who stayed at the Sheraton last year knows the answer to this, I'd be very appreciative for any info!

I'm wondering if the LCD TV's in the guest rooms have HDMI hookups, whether they're covered up, whether the input channel is locked out, ect. I know at the Mariott last year they had input boxes so that laptops, ect could be easily hooked up, but I can't tell from the photos/virtual tour if the Sheraton's the same.

While D*CTV is awesome and I'm sure we'll watch it, I was wanting to show some pilot episodes of stuff on my hard drive to my roomies in the evenings.

They are taking reservations for 2012.  The Dragoncon rates are $199.00 + 15% tax.

I'm staying in the Sheraton this year, and it'll be my first year every utilizing hotel parking.  Can anyone shed light on what the options are and how much they cost?  We're checking in on Thursday, and checking out on Monday.

Hey everyone,

Just a heads up, the Sheraton is starting to take their 1 night deposit from whatever card that you used to make the reservations. It caught me out of the blue since the reservations where made almost 3 months ago. I hate it when hotels do that.

Hey all,

Just called the Sheraton and they still have rooms available.  The website states that none are available but if you call the hotel themselves there are still Kings, 2 doubles, and 2 queen type rooms available!

$169 King
$189 Doubles
$209 Queens

Good Luck everyone especially after the Marriott debacle this morning :)

S for Sheraton

What's W?

Specifically, where is P’tree Ballroom A-F [W]?

So the pick up counter for will call is described as being in the pre-reg section... does that mean I would have to wait through the pre-reg line of doom?? The reason I don't buy badges a year in advance anymore is specifically to avoid the doom!

The Dragon*Con MMO gang is throwing a party, and you're invited!

Saturday night in the Sheraton's Capitol Ballroom (10:00), we'll be holding our first ever "Gathering of Heroes".

Come as you are, or come dressed as your favorite hero from an MMO.

MMO heroes limited to... *deep breath*

Stormtroopers, Jedi, Klingons, Romulans, Ferengi, Knights, Ninjas, Pirates, Rogues, Thieves, Buccaneers, Snipers, Scouts, Rangers, Strangers, Hunters, Wizards, Lich Kings, Dragons, Dwarves, Gnomes, Elves, Pilots, Sorcerers, Warlocks, Necromancers, Shamans, Priests, Demons, Barbarians, Conquerors, Enchanters, Federation Officers, Redshirts, Spellslingers, Post-Apocalyptic Wanderers, Road Warriors, Corsairs, Privateers, Smugglers, Mad Scientists, Tinkerers, Drow, Monks, Medics, Healers, Brewmasters, Tanks, Dragon Riders, Warriors, Superheroes, Supervillains, Lions, Tigers, Bears (oh my!), Ravens, Hawks, Tauren, Orcs, Trolls, Goblins, Worgen, Werewolves, Vampires, Zombies, Elementals, Kobolds, Cylons, Colonials,  Gods, Gunslingers. Pandas, AAAAAAAAND

(Yes, there's even an MMO with Hello Kitty)

If, somehow, I missed your particular brand of MMO hero, rest assured.  If you can think of it, chances are it's in an MMO somewhere.  Show up anyway!  Our friends at Artix Enterainment, Sony Online Entertainment, and Comcast will be on hand to give away goodies and have been gracious enough to sponsor our entertainment and "refreshements" for the evening.  We'll have 2 DJ's spinning dance tunes until the wee hours of the morning.  There's only one "First Time", so don't miss what promises to be a unique Dragon*Con tradition.

Hello, im very intrested in attending this year but what are the pannels and im a bit confused on everything thats going to be offered here. Is there Harry Potter related pannels? and where can i purchase tickets?
[identity profile] eklecticamy.livejournal.com
I know it's early to start this for next year but just in case you're interested, the Sheraton is taking reservations for 2011.  My friend and I have made ours.  The Dragoncon rate is 2 double beds $189 + tax a night.   I heard they're getting close to selling out already.  They will charge 1 night to your credit card when you make the reservation.

A friend and and I came up with this idea of photographing all the insane (and mostly insanely UGLY) carpeting in the host hotels. Really wished I'd gotten the Sheraton too, but we were only there Friday night, before we got the idea, so I missed it. Anyway, the gallery below -- clickie-clickie!

The Carpets of Dragon*Con

If anyone would like to have these as desktop backgrounds, let me know and I'll post later. The originals are nice high-res pics

P.S. Yes, I was the weird woman snapping pics of the floor. And you thought I was just wasted!

I have made my reservation for the Sheraton for 2010.  In case anyone wants to know, the rates are $159 + tax/night.

I just now called the Sheraton to add my friend's name onto the reservation, and they reminded me that I would be charged tomorrow for the first night's stay. WHAT!? Now, I looked through my entire reservation e-mail that I got when I initially made the reservation, and there is NO mention of charging $152 on the 22nd. When they sent me a new e-mail to reflect the changes to my overall reservation, it did mention the charge. I had to change my credit card anyway, since the one I made the reservation under had been canceled due to identity theft, but it just took me off guard about this charge before the con itself.

I don't know if this is a policy that they have since added since I made my reservation last October, but I had NO clue about this charge until I called tonight. Were others told this when they made their reservation?

So, heads up for those staying in the Sheraton.

Okay, so my memory of last September is a bit fuzzy. I made a Sheraton reservation on September 11, 2008 as soon as the con rates were released. As I recall, they charged me a one-night's stay deposit of $152 at that time. My online credit card statements don't go back but 3 months, and I don't have immediate access to my paper copies. But needless to say the Sheraton charged me $174 out of the blue yesterday, and now I'm starting to doubt my recollection of the deposit being charged back in September. We were all charged that deposit when we made the reservation, weren't we? Their accounting department says no deposits have been charged to me at all! I am so confused and frustrated I could scream.

Is this happening to anyone else?

If someone local to the area would be so kind, can you please tell me:
  • the state of the Marriott's tenth floor (e.g. is it still a wide open area accessible by all elevators, and would we still be able to go ther despite the other convention that was double-booked at the Marriott)
  • if and how the courtyard/patio at the Hilton is accessible
  • whether the fifth or sixth floor of the aforementioned Hilton is an open area great for group photoshoots ala the Marriott's tenth floor (heard a rumor to that effect last year, never checked to verify while I was at the con itself) and if so which of the two is it
  • any and all good potential group photoshoot locations in the Sheraton or Hyatt
If you did, I'd appreciate it muchly.

We are staying at the sheraton for the first time and I'd like to ask y'all for any info about it you'd care to share... about the layout, the rooms, shortcuts, etc.  Anything...

I was looking at the floor plans on their site but it wasn't till I poked around that I realized it was 12 floors... LOL We were only in it briefly last year for a couple of events...

I think I noticed a stairway in the parking lot that's between the Hilton and Sheraton (on the opposite side of the street) that leads to the habitrail to the Marriott - am I right?  Any info about that?

Thanks for the info - I like to know what to expect ahead of time...

Also - we'll be coming from the airport on MARTA - how far of a walk is it from there and which end should we exit the station through?  ( I lose all sense of diresction underground... sigh...)
