Looks like the start of a good schedule for all photoshoots. I suspect that one needs a Google account to access this?

ETA: seems that one doen't need to be logged in to Google to view the spreadsheet.

I did a new blog on Dragon Con last night stating that as of today, we are three weeks out from the convention.  I also gave an update what I have been doing.  I also created a convention playlist all about my blogs.

Please be sure to check these out

1.My latest Vlog

http://youtu.be/ltTfrBMKpug

2. My Convention playlist.  I have some stuff from last year's show
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLjRiXCMqkcTPy-mVacTXAmbV65iiIG_lW

I am still looking for people to interview for the show.

What would you like to see me cover this year without bother the major panelists?

My friends and I talked Party Hard Cart tech with you after we bailed on that god-awful rave around 3:30 AM Sunday night (Monday morning). Your portable rave cart was undeniably awesome. I'm hoping to get tips and info on how to build our own for our local Cons.

And add a fog machine.

/fingers crossed

I had to cut it down to one this year instead of three, but I am indeed hosting a "Harry Potter" photoshoot. It will be Sunday at 7:30pm in the Sheraton Lobby (will move from there just like last year and in 2010 )

Also, the "Geeks of Primetime Crime" (i.e. live action crime drama- think "Sherlock", "Hannibal", "Law &Order", "CSI", "NCIS", 'Criminal Minds", shows like that- photoshoot) returns, still Saturday and on the 5th floor of the Hilton but at 9:00pm this year so as not to have to deal with the crush of people going to get dinner (as I do suspect that caused some problems the previous years, having it right at 5 when the mad rush for dinner began).

I guess I can also mention the "Wreck-It Ralph" gathering, Sunday at 2:00pm on the Marriott 10th floor. I'm not hosting it but as of right now it hasn't been added to the Cosplay.com list, either.

Andy Teal, who runs the Pyrdon Academy board for the Doctor Who'verse costumers/cosplayers who hang out at Dragoncon (march in the parade, have video-and-photoshoots, a big group dinner, etc.) and other cons, has an appeal for any DW, SJA, and TW fans and costumers in the Atlanta area right now, and any DW'verse fans and cosplayers who are arriving early for Dragoncon next week: basically they need help finishing up the parade float.

If you are a DW'verse costumer and attend Dragoncon, please consider joining the Pyrdon Academy board here:
http://www.prydonacademy.com/ . It's free and takes only a minute to sign up. Once you are on the PA board you can contact Andy direct about helping in the Dragoncon Parade Float thread. There's a direct link below for those of you already on the PA board.

Under the cut, is Andy's request for help w/ the D*C parade float:

Hi everyone:

I am happy to announce that I will be doing a series of videos at Dragon Con this year for my new video blog,  "Hello World with Miyah Sundermeyer."  Also be sure to check out my first videos premiering this week as I talk about Dragon Con.

If you have an interesting costume or just plain wish to chat,  be sure to look for a girl dressed as Twilight Sparkle with the camera man.

If you want to be a part of the Pinkie Pie Flash mob between the Sheraton and the Hilton,  that is where you will be sure to put your lovely face on camera.

Note that the Pinkie Pie Party will be on Friday August 30th at 5:00 PM in the Marriott on the 10th floor or so planned.  Please stay tuned...

Dragon*Con is, among other things, that time of year when internet memes become costumes.  As a habitual last-minute costumer, I was thinking of something fun and easy when something hit my Facebook page.  Behold!  The Grumpy League of America!  And the best thing is, cheap store-bought costumes (plus signs) are actually better for the cartoony look of the meme.  Who's in for some or all of these cats?

Hello everyone! To all the fans of Defiance we have started a Defiance Dragon*Con Group. It's a group for all the Defiance costumers, and fans out there! A place to talk, lend support, get help, and share our creations. We have albums setup with sections on: 1) Reference photos for costumers filed by the races. 2) You can also make your own album on the progress of your costumes. 3. You will also be able to upload any photos you take from Dragon*Con 2013!

We hope to see you there!

There was recently a discussion going about Walking Dead/Walking dead style zombies going on in one of (if not the?) main Dragon*Con Facebook groups - so a few of us got together and started a costuming group for Walking Dead characters and zombies!

It's an open group, all are welcome to join. We'll hopefully have some kind of meetup at D*C, but even if not we're trying to get up some makeup discussions (for zombies) and reference photos (for specific TWD characters) and whatnot. Should be a great group! (Seems to be so far, anyway :) ) So if you're planning on doing a costume of a specific TWD character, or even just a zombie, come check it out....or even if you're just interested in the show and are going to D*C, come check it out! :)

Oh, and don't worry about costume/character doubles or anything like that. We're just in this to hopefully get a big group together and take some great pictures and all that jazz :)

https://www.facebook.com/groups/159863667505623/

(I've tagged this with "photoshoots" as well because it's very very likely that we're going to schedule a TWD photoshoot at D*C...as in, at this point I don't see why we WOULDN'T do so, haha)

I know I am wayy in advanced and posting an early costuming group for next year but I would love to get a Spaceballs group together and walk in the parade! I already have a few ppl in on it but is anyone else interested?

I've been hosting a "Harry Potter" gathering/photoshoot for each day of D*C (except Monday) since 2007 and plan to continue the tradition into 2012. This time, I will be sharing hosting duty with a friend with both of us dressed as the Weasley Twins, so I guess you could say this year's shoots are sponsored by Weasley's Wizard Wheezes. :D

Okay, enough jokes. The times and locations are as follows:

There are Facebook events for these; just click on the corresponding times listed and feel free to join.
[identity profile] maryryanbogard.livejournal.com
ETA: this meetup will be Sunday at noon, in the Hilton lobby (there are these "conversation nooks" there for potential actual gaming). If the group gets too big, we will simply go upstairs to the 5th floor of that same hotel. Also, there's a Facebook event page for this: http://www.facebook.com/events/214788265315130/

Oh sure, there are gatherings/photoshoots for video games and MMORPGs, but what about games of the non-electronic variety? You know, card games, board games, pen-and-paper RPGs, that kind of stuff.

I'm asking because a friend and I plan to be cosplaying characters from the card game "Red Dragon Inn" for the earlier part of Sunday (read: before 3pm). While of course other "Red Dragon" characters and characters from, say, "Magic: the Gathering", "Warhammer", or "Munchkin" are welcome, this shoot would be open to anyone from any non-video game. The Clue suspects (e.g. Colonel Mustard) count, as do Uncle Pennybags (the Monopoly mascot), characters from Candyland (e.g. Queen Frostine, King Kandy, Princess Lolly, Mr. Mint), face cards from a standard deck (whether it's one like this or more like this), and chess pieces (this for example). Yes, even those dartboard, Twister, and checkerboard costumes (as dresses or otherwise) count. And of course, any "Dungeons & Dragons", "Shadowrun", "World of Darkness", etc. characters are welcome. Would anyone be interested?

For those of you cosplaying from televison crime dramas/detective shows/police procedurals/whatever else you wanna call 'em, your gracious hosts Penelope Garcia (my friend) and Abby Sciuto (me) are hosting a photoshot on the 5th floor of the Hilton, Saturday at 5:00 pm. For those interested, dinner at Southern Elements in the Hilton will follow.

Also, a reminder that this is not just for "Criminal Minds" and "NCIS" cosplayers- anyone from any television crime drama ever made in any country counts (yes, this even includes BBC's "Sherlock"), and duplicate characters are welcome.

Oh yes, the link is to the Facebook page, but there's also this thread here.

DragonCon is the largest gathering of Terry Goodkind and Legend of the Seeker fans in the world, and our chief baddie, Craig Parker (Darken Rahl) is attending!

We have many activities planned, including contests, fan panels, photo shoots, and a group at the costume parade.  The summary below will be updated on an ongoing basis to reflect changes.

It's getting to be that time of year again - Dragon*Con time! As usual, Prydon Academy is gearing up with an assortment of Doctor Who related meetups and activities. So if you're interested in hanging out with other Who fans and costumers, come on over to the Prydon Academy forums! Plans include:

The Doctor Who Parade Group! If you're planning on marching in this group, if you can sign up through PA rather than directly with the parade, it will make things smoother.
Photoshoots and videos!
The Prydon Academy dinner! (And don't forget the Brittrack dinner, too!)

See you there!

Once again we need your help in supporting DragonCon's 2012 charity of choice. Last year, you helped raise over $1900 with the masks you donated in support of The Inclusion Project.

With last year’s success, Dragon*Con is asking each of us to again help with this year’s charity ball. This year, we’ll be supporting the ALS Association. In celebration of ‘the end of the world,’ this year’s event has a Mayan theme, where attendees are encouraged (but not required) to dress in Mayan attire,... including headdresses. We’re asking that you please consider donating a hand-crafted Mayan headdress to be sold for this event. Either traditional or modern interpretations are welcomed.

Please contact costuming@dragoncon.org if you would like to donate headdresses, or they can be dropped off at the Track Room from 11a - 4p on Fri, Aug 31, 2012.

Also, leading up to Dragon*Con this year, we will be hosting events where everyone may gather to work on their headdresses; the first being on Saturday, May 26th from 10a-2p at InTown Quilters - 1058 Mistletoe Road Decatur, GA 30033. Look for future dates on the Costuming Track Facebook page!

For more information about this year’s charity drive, please visit DragonCon’s website at: http://www.dragoncon.org/charity.php
