This is the first year that I will be bring prop weapons as part of a costume.  So my question has to do with peace bonding them...exactly what are they looking for?  I kinda have a handle on the handguns (i was going to zip tie them to the holster), but my little brother is coming in his SG costume with P90 and i'm not a 100% sure on what to do with it.  It is non working, I've taken it apart and pulled all the mechanics but I still wanna make sure that we are following con policy.  Thanks for any help.

Any thoughts on how I can scrounge up the last 25 or so elements I need for my periodic table parade group? I would rather not try to scramble to fill those spots at the con itself, if at all possible.

In addition to this LJ group, I have tried other LJ groups, Facebook, MySpace, a few Yahoo e-mail groups, cosplay.com, dragonconforums.org, the Convention Fans blog, and a few mailing lists. I just don't know where else to post. Help?

Okay, so this isn’t going to cover ramen in the coffee maker or a diet strictly on ConSuite food and freebies. This is for people who want to eat out and eat well, but for as economically reasonable as possible. FEEL FREE TO ADD YOUR OWN TIPS.

Yes, that is right, the office will be closed after 5pm today. So come on folks, get your faxes in.

Also, if you put a membership form in the mail today, it has to be here by next Thursday morning. That is when I will be printing badges. So as long as it is postmarked by today, you should be fine and your badge will be printed.

Starting Monday, all faxes for memberships will be shredded. That is giving you a weekend reprieve so get them in. All memberships mailed after today will be held for you until the show, and then given to you so you can buy at regular registration. Transfers will be in a folder at solutions.

So I am flying and want  to travel light , due to all the traveling I have already done this yr. I am so tired of checking luggage in and carrying it around after baggage Claim X_X.  I really would like to just bring my duffel full of clothes and thats it. Yet it dawned upon me if I do that , then I can't bring food with me. Then theres the fact if would cost me 30.00 to be able to checking luggage  since the airline wants to charge 15.00 each way per bag X_X. So bottom line is I am trying to figure out if there is enough places open late at night that are not  delivery, pizza, or expensive. if there isn't, I guess I will be checking in luggage. Help?

Okay, so my memory of last September is a bit fuzzy. I made a Sheraton reservation on September 11, 2008 as soon as the con rates were released. As I recall, they charged me a one-night's stay deposit of $152 at that time. My online credit card statements don't go back but 3 months, and I don't have immediate access to my paper copies. But needless to say the Sheraton charged me $174 out of the blue yesterday, and now I'm starting to doubt my recollection of the deposit being charged back in September. We were all charged that deposit when we made the reservation, weren't we? Their accounting department says no deposits have been charged to me at all! I am so confused and frustrated I could scream.

Is this happening to anyone else?

"If you’re going to be attending DragonCon in Atlanta in a few weeks, Gilliam will be there with bells on actually screening the film (the Imaginarium of Dr. Parnasus). If you get the chance don’t pass up the opportunity to shake the man’s hand and tell him what his work has meant to you."

Thougth this worth a post & wondering how others are feeling about it.

..those of us that have already paid THE ADVERTISED $60 for a phot op with Mr Leonard Nimoy, have this last week, suffered the disclosure that  'oh that price was wrong/a mistake  - it is supposed to be $80 - oh but if you have already paid  $60 you must still pay the extra $20 now - oh and if you want a refund instead you have to wait until after D*C (practically a month) for it'.... if I hadnt already made a costume for the photo I would be wanting my money back .... and IMMEDIATELY.

How is it DragonCon can allow a precedence like this to be set?    If a vendor/dealer/photographer can do it once, they can do it again and to every price on their site! ... what guarantee do we all have that there will be no further increases to current advertised prices of other photo ops, excused as 'mistakes' but the customer has to cop the loss for the vendor's mistake?

Does anyone know if anyone provides airbrushing services at Dragon?
I really want to do an Orion Slave girl but I don't have access to an airbrush kit or compressor.

Does anyone know if there is any special disability seating area for the parade? My father-in-law has a motorized scooter. Should I just tell him to get there early?

Hi Everyone,

It has come to our attention that there is some confusion over the price increase with Froggy Photos over pre-sales with Leonard Nimoy. We have spoken to them directly, and they have gaurenteed us that they will rectify the situation.

If you have any questions or concerns about your particular orders, please contact Froggy directly at questions(at)froggysphotos(dot)com.

If you have already spoken to Froggy's Photo and still have a problem, please contact us directly at outsidephotos(at)dragoncon(dot)org.

Best Regards,

Okay, I'm reading all the things about photos and walk of fame and I'm just a little confused.

The Froggy things are like photo session right? Like, a professional photographer takes your photo with the star of your choice? Should these be purchased in advance or can I decide when I get there?

But if I just want to get an autograph, can I just get in line for that? What if my friend snaps a candid photo of me getting the autograph? Will I be jumped by the handlers in the area?

This is my first convention, so I'm new to this whole thing. Tips and tricks appreciated.

I just now called the Sheraton to add my friend's name onto the reservation, and they reminded me that I would be charged tomorrow for the first night's stay. WHAT!? Now, I looked through my entire reservation e-mail that I got when I initially made the reservation, and there is NO mention of charging $152 on the 22nd. When they sent me a new e-mail to reflect the changes to my overall reservation, it did mention the charge. I had to change my credit card anyway, since the one I made the reservation under had been canceled due to identity theft, but it just took me off guard about this charge before the con itself.

I don't know if this is a policy that they have since added since I made my reservation last October, but I had NO clue about this charge until I called tonight. Were others told this when they made their reservation?

So, heads up for those staying in the Sheraton.

Hi all. Due to unfortunate class scheduling problems, it seems that I will not be able to attend Dragon*Con this year. The membership is for the entire weekend, and was purchased for $90. I'll let it go for $85 as incentive, but am already being hit by the $20 transfer fee, which does smart.

If there is anyone who has yet to buy his/her membership, or knows someone who does, do contact me at severustangoATyahooDOTcom. Thankee kindly.
