Heya guys,

Because of my job at my campus I can't go to DragonCon for the whole time, but I do planon going for one day.  I'm curious, does anyone know which day The Cruxshadows are playing?  Also, I just want to make sure that I can buy a one day ticket on whatever day I show up, yes?  Last year I had my four day tickets so I didn't have to go through this. xD

Thanks guys!

Hello guys i want to go to DragonCon to see Craig Parker, the actor of Haldir in the lord of the rings. I don't know if he will be there all four days, or just on some day? Also even if on the day he is there, is it guaranteed that I will be able to see him? Thank you.

Anyone have the inside scoop on what this year's and next year's Dragon*Con t-shirts look like? I always get one if I like the design, and I'm curious what they look like.

I've heard a bit about the possibility of a 'fangbangers' party at the Hyatt after sundown, but does anyone know what day it is and where in the Hyatt?

The British SF Media track at Dragoncon (or Brittrack, as it's nicknamed) will be hosting a panel for any and all costumers of British SF & fantasy media, whether it's Doctor Who, UFO, Blake's Seven, Robin Hood, Torchwood, The Tomorrow People, The Sarah Jane Adventures, or what have you. :)

Please attend in costume or bring a costume for presentation or just attend to pick up tips and tricks. We'll be mostly discussing costuming, but we also have an expert on the panel who has knitted many Fourth Doctor scarves. If you have knitted and/or are knitting a Fourth Doctor scarf or a Boomtown!Rose scarf, bring it along. :)

If you can attend the panel, just let us know by replying here, esp. if you are wearing or presenting a costume, let us know about the costume as well. :)

At the moment, and hopefully this will not change, the costume panel will be at 4 PM, Saturday, Sept. 5th, 2009, in the usual Brittrack place, the Valdosta Room, at the Sheraton Hotel.

Dragoncon takes place Sept. 4th - 7th, 2009, in Atlanta, GA, USA.

The Brittrack has Eric Roberts (the Master in the Doctor Who TV-movie) and Gareth David-Lloyd (Ianto Jones in Torchwood) as guests, as well as Terry Gilliam and many other wonderful guests.

See you at Dragoncon!

This will be my sixth time at Dragon*Con, but now I have a special guest: my non-geek girlfriend. To be fair, she has some geek sympathies/tendencies. She's into Lost and LOTR, and has a pop-culture level of recognition of many things (ie, she could identify Spock, the Joker, or Darth Vader).

I'm planning to spend most of Friday just taking her around the con sight-seeing (I was gonna do it in plainclothes to stay under the radar, but she insisted I wear my Dharma jumpsuit), and we're planning to spend most of the rest of the weekend together, but we don't want to be stuck to each other 24/7. She's also usually not good around groups of people, but Dragon*Con will hopefully transcend "I am nervous around a lot of people" and become "wow, look at all these crazy people" :) And, worst-case scenario, she chills in our room in the Hilton a lot.

With all this in mind, does anyone have recommendations for how I can make this con as fun as possible for her?

Okay, I'm prepeared to brave the long lines, but:

Does anyone know approximately how much green I'll have to plunk down for pictures with, or to have my books signed by Nimoy, Shatner, and Stewart? With only 2 weeks to go, I want to budget the appropriate amount of money.

Are prices posted anywhere? Any help would be appreciated!

Does anyone have any general information on what the Marriott might additionally charge for occupants numbering over 4? Is there a general per person fee or does that sort of stuff just get lumped in with other charges?

On the Science Trak schedule Adam Savage is doing a panel on Sunday at 11:30, however I'm about 90% sure that there was a panel at 5:30 on Saturday. Does he have another panel at that time for a different Trak or was it simply rescheduled?

If he's doing two that would be wonderful and I'll be sure to catch him twice but I just wanted to see if anyone else knew for sure.

As we get closer to con, I was wondering how transferring memberships works.  The office is closed, so do we just do the transfer at con itself, or is there still a method to notify someone?

I just wanted to be clear before I purchase someone else's membership.

Like many people, I am selling stuff to finance Dragon Con. Specifically, I am selling a titanic lot of Doctor Who tapes - 136 tapes, consisting of 124 stories - over 90% of the existent stories in the classic Doctor Who series.

The lot is $600. That's less than $5 per story. I am perfectly willing to drive it to Atlanta and deliver it in person.

The ad is at http://gainesville.craigslist.org/emd/1339782409.html. E-mail me via the link there, or leave comments here.

I am looking for 2 four day memberships, i am also willing to transfer memberships as well.

Price needs to be reasonable, but i am willing to negotiate.

Does DragonCon have any rules about videotaping during panels, especially the bigger panels ie. Star Trek and Buffy?  I searched the site but I didn't find anything that addressed this specifically.   sorry if it's been asked to death...
thanks!!

Anyone got any advice about video taping in the Walk of Fame? I'm going to be using my tiny Canon camera. But I'm getting something signed for a friend in Australia and wanted to get the signing taped for her to see .. Is that something you ask the handler about or the celeb themselves?? I don't want to do the wrong thing...

I'll be a little strapped for cash this con, and it occurred to me that somebody might want to hire a silver-painted, LED-studded Pleasurebot to dance and draw attention to a shop or other booth. Does anyone know where/how I might advertise or arrange this kind of thing? Apologies if this is not on topic.

Ok, I need a little help here with the Hilton.

Has anyone transfered a room with a deposit successfully? I am trying to hand of my Hilton room to another con goer.

Unfortunately, the Hilton charged me a deposit back in October for a quarter the price. The staff at the hilton has told me that the only way to get a refund is to cancel the reservation, a transfer won't trigger one. Does anyone here have any experience with this? I really don't want to send it back into the pool.

Thanks!

I've recently started jogging, and I'm a hardcore geek. I like Simon Pegg as an actor and would LOVE to get an Erectile Dysfunction t-shirt for before, during or after Con. Anybody have any useful (besides: google /amazon / e-bay) leads?

So - I'm doing kind of a futuristic costume one day and would love to add some jewels around my eye and down one cheek - y'know, the alien chick thing.

But I don't have any clue where to find the jewels, I guess.  I tried my local costume shop - they had some little star tattoos that I tried - but it looked less exotic and more "face painting at the elementary school fair."

Anyone got any suggestions? I must totally be looking in the wrong places . . .

By popular demand we’ve changed the meet up time and place for the Twilight costuming group. We will now be meeting at 6:00pm Friday on the Marriott Atrium level (third floor), just past the escalators. We’ll move out of the direct line of traffic as people arrive, but likely stay nearby for group photos, etc.

Everyone is welcome at this meet up, whether you’re sporting book inspired, movie accurate, or just random Forks resident. Or just come by to say hi and see if Twilight vampires really do show up on film. ;)

See you there!
