I emailed them with this question but got no response... thought maybe someone has an answer for me here...

I asked them if it was OK to get 2 of us in the pic and if there was any additional fees... Jerry and I have been getting photos with celebs together for a while now...

Any info would be helpful!

The powers that be have begun their annual panel switch-a-roo, and thus I need to update the status of the Venture Brothers PhotoShoot/Get-together:

According to the those involved in the Animation Track, The VB Panel has been moved from 11:30 to 2:30 on Saturday; I believe, basically, the VB panel and the Squidbillies/AquaTeen panel have been switched.

After the Panel Jackson and Doc will be doing signings. So, basically we've got the VB panel running at 2:30; Signatures at 4:00, and then the fan-run VB panel at 5:30..

I suspect most people will want to try to get signatures after the VB panel, which will probably put a damper on the photo-shoot.

However, I still have Baker from 4-5:30. So, I'm going to push the time up to 4:45PM in hopes that we can allow people some time to get signatures and still meet up for group photos (Although I must be high for thinking this will work out!) Hopefully I'll still see some of you there. If not, we can always try again next year.

Thanks for your patience!

RIP, No. 24

Looks like what ever everyone did worked on the weather, let's all hope it holds because you can't get more perfect then that for Georgia in August.  Weather Link.

I also wanted to add a link for all the road construction so everyone doesn't have to look it up themselves.  Road Construction Link.  This gives you the real time stuff.

Hope it helps everyone plan their trip for a smoother ride.  Be sure to stop by and see us in the Art Room, just look for the big banner that says "Nydwyn Green Dragon Studio."  See everyone there.

Dragon Con 2008 will be hosting the World Premiere of “Ouran High School Host Club,” the highly anticipated new anime series from FUNimation. The event will be hosted by Vic Mignogna (the voice of Tamaki Suou), who will be showing FULL EPISODES of the new show.

The girls of Frolicon are finally doing a themed costume...the four of us all together, even. If you are specifically Grease or 50s retro (we need a Frankie Valli bad) and want to roam the convention Saturday night with us, you won't be able to miss our mile high silver rollers and silver lame' goodness. If you don't want to look for us just drop by our table outside the Exhibitor's Hall Saturday, and we'll plan a place to meet up.

I know, we're not all cool and steampunky or anime, but it is full of cheesy goodness!!!! Ahhh....cheesy goodness!!!!

I have a room in the Marriott this year, and three friends are crashing with me. They all asked for room keys. How generous/stingy is the hotel usually with giving additional keys at check-in? I figured I'd ask for three extras, saying one person was staying with me (two beds in the room) and two more were going to leave their costume stuff in my room.

Just in the nick of time the 2007 spaceman pictures have been updated. They can be found here

Thank you for your attention and See you at the con.

I love going to Whose Line is it Anyway every year - but I can't find it in this year's pocket program.

Did it get cut?  If so, that makes me grumpy and sad.

This will be my 6th DragonCon and I am asking for help to not make it my last. I live in Boston and have gone w/ my SO 6 out of 7 years that we have been together, but the last few I haven't had as much fun as the earlier ones. I figured it out that it is because he is less into going to the panels then I am. Previous years, we had others we knew going too, so there was always at least one other person to go dork out with. I am curious if others have the problem of finding themselves adrift in the sea of geeky humanity and how you deal with it. I know it sounds silly, since we are all there for the same purpose and I am not shy and will talk to anyone, but I seem to have a hard time hooking up with other fans to run around the Con with. I can't be the only one with this problem; so I ask you, fellow geeks, dorks, nerds, dweebs, if you are on your way to something fun with your gaggle of friends, look around for some lonesome soul who is standing off to the side, wistfully watching the crowd, and pull them in. That being said, I am going to try harder to reach out and make friends and I would love to arrange to meet someone(s) to that end. I am a lover of all things Whedon, Farscape, Anne McCaffrey, and a ton of old TV shows. Anyone want to adopt a 33 YO self proclaimed gamer geek for an hour, day, or weekend? I don't bite. Much. :D

This is my first time at Dragon*Con and I have just a couple of quick questions.

1. Where is the nearest Waffle House?  I didn't see one on the map so I'm assuming its far?

2. What cab services run in Atlanta?  Is there a good one?  Cheap one?

3. How late do the hotel shuttles run?  My friend and I are arriving really early Friday morning, about midnight.  If they don't run real late, how much does it generally cost to take a cab?

Thanks all!
[identity profile] bushidobrown.livejournal.com
I'm thinking of offering a messenger service thing (for convention attendees only) from Friday to Monday. The basic deal would be:

1) you call my cellphone.
2) we meet up, and you give me the cash for your item.  (I can leave my passport with you as a security)
3) I go bike over to the liquor store/grocery/craft store/restaurant and return with your stuff and receipt.
4) you pay me between $5 and $15, depending on distance and weight of package.  (we'll agree on this ahead of time)

My charge would work out a good deal cheaper than the usual delivery fee (I'm pretty sure the hotel charges $30 or so), I can reach any spot within 2 miles of the hotel much faster than a car, and (if you're buying booze) I can shop at a liquor store that's much less expensive than the one across the street (or any other downtown liquor stores).  Also, I imagine the service would be really useful if you need supplies to make last minute costume additions before a contest, or if you're up past closing time for the downtown restaurants (I can reach The Majestic 24 hour diner in about 4 minutes from the hotel, and a 24 hour grocery even faster).

So, your thoughts?

Good idea?

Bad idea?

I read SOMEWHERE a week or so ago that the ConSuite was going to have a reception for The Monarch & Dr. Mrs. The Monarch.  Of course, I can't locate this info anymore and heaven forbid I write it down when I first came across it.

Does anyone know what day & time this will be taking place??

And, are they accepting gifts?  I wonder if I should bring them a toaster.

THANKS!

So it seems to me I once upon a time saw something about a Doctor Who photo op group...
Is this true? I'm doing a Doctor Donna costume, and would love to get together with a photo group!

Thanks!

BTW - When might we see the PDF program schedule that usually goes up? This is similar I guess to the google doc that has been floating around, but is set up to look at a lot easier. I haven't really been able to plan my weekend because I find the google doc hard to look at...

Since [livejournal.com profile] alladinsane has recently implemented the awesome feature of tagging posts, I thought I'd give a quick tutorial on how to tag your posts.

What are tags? LJ sez:

Tags are words or short phrases used to organize your journal entries. Add tags to a new entry (or while editing an old entry) by typing the tag name in the Tags field. Separate multiple tags on the same entry with a comma (eg: "pets, rover"). You can also add tags to an old entry that by clicking the icon labeled "TAG" or the "Edit Tags" link on the entry. You can view and manage all your tags at the Tags Management page. More here

Why tag, you ask?

It makes navigating easier. If you want to find all posts in the community about, say, guests, or even if you want to find out something about a particular guest, you can click the tag "guests" on the Community Tag Page, or even just click [livejournal.com profile] dragoncon and look at the left side bar, towards the bottom you'll see the list of tags.

Why tag? Because I know I speak for a lot of us when we say we're tired of people asking the same questions over and over and over and over (and over and over), and not wanting to look through the community's previous posts for the answer before subjecting themselves to the ridicule of some of the vet members. This way, it makes it MUCH more efficient to look through past posts with regards to a particular subject to find your answer.

Now, HOW to tag...

1. Edit your post
2. <-- See that button? Click it.
3. Community tags: By default, only community maintainers can create new tags for the community and community members can add those tags to entries (any entry, doesn't have to be yours)
4. Community maintainers must add new tags to entries before members can see or use them for entries. Meaning, you can only tag the entries with the tags that the community moderator has listed.
5. Maintainers can change community tag settings at the Tags Management page. If you post an entry with new tags, but do not have permission to create new tags or add existing tags, those tags will be removed from your entry.

Got that? Now I know the moderator has the community set to "Moderated" so it takes a while before your post shows. You can go back once it posts and edit it so you can add tags from the community tag list to your entry (or you can add it as you're writing your post). It's really pretty simple.

Be sure to do your part in making things flow a lot more smoothly by tagging posts, so next year we don't have to deal with the onslaught of repeated questions and posts!

P.S. [livejournal.com profile] greenwitch rocks... be sure to check out the community page for her wonderful FAQ and links to all pertinent info as well... feel free to add to enhance the DC community for all!!

Dragon*Con this weekend -- I'll be there... will you?

Don't miss Dragon*Con this year, from August 29 - September 1, 2008.

I'll be there, along with hundreds of comic book creators, sci-fi and fantasy authors and TV and movie celebrities.

My "homebase" will be in Comics Artits Alley at Table #7 (near Andy Runton and Peter David).

I'll be participating in the following panels/readings during the con.

Friday 02:30 pm
Room L508
Oh No You Di'nt! Version 1.0 - Writers' Pitfalls
An examination of various "Don'ts" for comics writers by some of the medium's top authors.

Saturday 01:00 pm
Williams Room
Dragon*Reading from my short stories and other prose work (and a preview of the Fishnet Angel novel)

Monday 10:00 am
Room L508
Oh No, You Di'nt ! Version 2.0 - Comics' Greatest Blunders
An open discussion of "jump the shark" moments in popular comics. Clones, alien imposters, identities erased, false deaths and impossible resurrections - where have our favorite heroes (and their creative guides) led us astray?

So come on and have a good time and show some love to your favorite writer of superhero S&M adventures. (And if s/he isn't there, then drop by my table and say hello to me.)

If you have any questions about the con, go to the official website at http://www.dragoncon.org

I know it seems early, but I won't have time tomorrow because I start my classes and will be gone all day. I'm constantly for getting things if I pack right before I leave.. This gives me time to remember what I forgot and add it.

Unfortunatly it blossomed from one suit case into two and makeup case, boots, and sword. All I have to do is pack the car, fuel up and be on my way.

Can't wait and see you all there.

2) Putting together final party list...you can help by posting your TEXT ONLY BASIC Party information in the comments below even if you've posted on your party before...no fliers or graphics or extra sales copy...just the basic info...

3) If you havent already done so, go answer the annual poll

DragonCon Update for Emerald Rose shows:

DRAGONCON SCHEDULE

As you know, sometimes things change, but this is the schedule as we know it
for now, for DragonCon 2008. Our table will be located somewhere in the Hyatt Hotel.

THURSDAY NIGHT Aug 28 9 pm -ish MARRIOT ATRIUM
Emerald Rose and The Rum Runners

FRIDAY Aug 29 12:30 pm Concert - HYATT CONCOURSE STAGE

FRIDAY NIGHT Aug 29 8:30 pm Evening at Bree Party
HYATT CENTENNIAL I BALLROOM

SATURDAY NIGHT Aug 30 10 pm Serenity / Browncoats Shindig
SHERATON BALLROOM

SUNDAY Aug 31 12:30 pm Concert - HYATT CONCOURSE STAGE

SUNDAY Aug 31 4 pm Live Podcast - The Signal

MONDAY Sept 1 2 pm Concert - HYATT CONCOURSE STAGE

We hope you will come by our table to say hello and see what we are up to
this year. We have some new ideas for projects that we will be presenting
at the con. Look for us at the Hyatt Concourse or on the floor below. We will be running sound for the bands on the Concourse, so that's is probably the easiest way to find us until we know where our table will be located.

STUPID HOBBIT TRICKS!!!
Emerald Rose are seeking Hobbits, Dwarves, Elves and Humans to perform in a new part of the Evening at Bree Party at DragonCon on Friday night. The 'bit' will be called 'Stupid Hobbit Tricks' and well, that probably says enough right there. If you have a silly (but not dangerous) Tolkien-related thing that you do, email the guys at band@emeraldrose.com or see them Thursday or Friday before Bree at their band table in the Hyatt Concourse. Also seeking representatives from the Dwarven and Hobbit races for the first ever Middle Earth Quaffing Contest! No elves, though. Elves don't quaff - they sip. One representative over the age of 21 from the desired races only please. Quaffing will be done with a non-alcoholic beer substitute of great quality! Excitement! Danger! Prizes!

Finally, if you are interested in travelling to Ireland next spring, there is some new
information up on our web page for Logan's 2009 tour to Dingle and Donegal
at http://www.emeraldrose.com/Ireland2009/index.htm !
[identity profile] peacelovefandom.livejournal.com
My boyfriend and I already have our full weekend passes, but the boyfriend's little brothers want to join us Saturday. Can we buy their tickets for them Saturday morning, or does the person that buys them have to be the person that uses them? Also, can we ONLY buy Saturday passes ON Saturday, or can you buy the one day passes any day during the convention (including Thursday night badge pick up)? - Got that part.

Thanks.
[identity profile] gabristar88.livejournal.com
Just wondering if tripods are allowed or universally not allowed?(for the panels)
[identity profile] napoleon1023.livejournal.com

Does anyone know what booth location Torri Higginson will have in the Walk of Fame?  I don't see it listed.
Thanks!

[identity profile] paidiraiompair.livejournal.com

I am selling these for a friend....I will be bringing them to Con for inspection and pick up. If you are interested, reply here. These do not belong to me, so if you have questions I will forward them to my friend. If you decide you wish to see them or buy one, we can meet at con if you will send some sort of contact info (email or phone contact etc)

Most are Neil Massey Designed, the other is Louis Shaw designed broadsword - he designed the Banderas Zorro rapier and most Hollywood steel weapons

PS Sorry Moderators for my first attempt.  I was going to do this LJ cut, but did you know that if you hit "enter" when you are in the subject line, it just posts whatever you got??

I was in Subway today and noticed that they were giving out discount coupons for the D*C. I'm not sure how many Subway's are participating but when I asked the employee's they said the flyer's came from the Subway Atlanta Main offices, so I imagine that they are being sent to Atlanta area Subway's. I know many of you have already purchased your tickets but you may know of some who have not yet. This is a way to save a bit of cash and figured it would be nice to pass along.
[identity profile] irelandsgoddess.livejournal.com
I've got a friend looking to come for a couple of days. Anybody have tickets they're trying to unload? I know she can buy at the door, but I figure I'd try to help someone out of a jam while we're at it.

Leave me a comment and we'll connect.

Thanks, y'all! I can't wait!

PS- YES,   That is Jeep, the former director of computer gaming track in the pic. JIC anyone wonders, "How do I know that guy?" ;)

So here is a completely odd question for some of you vendors out there.
I have about 200 t shirts if not more that I had in my booth from a few years back at Dcon and I do not want to set up a booth again this year. I am, however, looking to get rid of them at a VERY cheap price to someone who might want to sell them and make profit off of them. I will be coming to atlanta on Thursday if anyone is interested in buying them off me. THey range from sizes S-3xl and range from Science fiction shirts (Star Wars, Harry Potter, Xfiles, LOTR) to political shirts to anything politically incorrect and are all different colors and are all brand new. Some shirts are from my dear friend Gareth Botha, who has given me permission to sell the shirts already. He created the cover art for one of Seether's internationally famous CDs and its biomechanical artwork and the like. If interested, let me know.
[identity profile] jessica-siler.livejournal.com
Which is why I'm posing this question to all you lovely people:) What is the quickest route to the Grand Ballroom? I want to be as efficient as possible when registering.

Or if anyone has a better floor plan that they could share that would also be great!

Thanks in advance:)

[identity profile] reyesfanatic.livejournal.com
Ok, I have a friend and this will be her first dragoncon. She bought her ticket but has never received her postcard. And she can't seem to find the email receipt (but strange enough can find the credit card statement with it on it), is there a help desk to go to where we pick up badges to see if she is listed as buying. I've told her if there is going to be much hassle I'd just buy her a ticket. Would just hate to see her stand in line and then have to go to another line. Any suggestions?

Also, is the listed autograph sessions the only time you can get author autographs? I ask cause I know someone who is wanting to get the McCaffrey's autographs but she has to leave Sunday morning which is the day of their session. (Also how much if anything do they charge if you bring your own book?).

And final question....does Froggy take credit cards at con, anyone know. lol I said I wouldn't pay for those photos, cause I do prefer the at the table shot with my own camera. But there are a couple doing his photographs this year I'd like to get (Fillion, Butler, Henrikson)
