I'm a con newbie, this past Frolicon was my first con ever...are there really that many people who suddenly forget to bathe at DCon?! :/

Yes, there are. So much so that we've joked about carrying around little goodie bags of travel items and handing them out. Though I think a pressure washed would be harder to manage...

In '07 There were a few women dressed up as "Freshness Fairies" and carried around a basket full of hygiene products for people.

One year when the fake "superhero" phase was going on, there was Deoderant Girl who went around with containers of deoderant. And, at another con, was Febreeze Man who offered to Febreeze whomever he deemed necessary to do so (or if someone "paid" him to Febreeze someone).

Funny enough, I was standing in line for registration last year and the person in front of me ALREADY wreaked! I was all "FOR GOD'S SAKES, WE'RE AN HOUR INTO CON AND YOU ALREADY SMELL LIKE A FOOT!" I took out my trusty body spray in my purse, squirted it down the line and actually got many "thank you!!"'s from people who were also having to deal from the body odors around us -_-.

I think the thing is less that they forget and more that there are LOTS of people with no rooms that stay all weekend, really hot humid time of year + some costumes that are really hot, and people who are just so gorked out of thier brains the entire weekend they don't know what bathing is,

People end up forgetting that they are in civilized society and do stupid things. Poor hygiene is the least of it.

I've haard the gaming room(s) got fairly funky by mid-con from all the unclean gamers...

I'm sure there were other areas of the con where one ran into funkdefied people too....
