I would second the people that said water, snacks, Aleve, Blister pads/bandaids, sleep mask, air freshner, proper cords, extra batteries and memory cards and will add:
-Neosporin w/ pain relief in it
-Ear plugs
-Small fan for room (got to have one for 'noise coverage' so i can sleep)
-Liquid soap for washing hands at the sink (cannot stand trying to use bar soap for that)
-Toilet paper (i know you shouldnt need it, but in an emergency you dont want to have to stop and call housekeeping!)
-Super Glue
-Duct Tape (sometimes a costume, bag or even a shoe emergency needs more than a needle and thread)

A thermometer. If by some odd chance you think you need one, you'll pay for it in the hotel gift shop with an arm or leg, besides having to run that gauntlet to get there, sick.

My genius roomie brings a HotShot (http://www.amazon.com/Sunbeam-Hot-Shot-Beverage-Machine/dp/B00006IUZ5/ref=sr_1_2?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1313781693&sr=1-2), and extra garbage bags for the huge amounts of mess that we always seem to accumulate. I also think that this year, I'm going to bring a powerstrip, because we never have enough plugs for the 4 people in our room.

Also, hot glue hot glue hot glue!

I thought I was the only one to bring a partridge in a pear tree and the all important squirrels to DragonCon. It's good to know that someone has a back-up (just in case).

You really never know when you might need a good squirrel, and pears are a good source of Vitamin C.

The partridge, of course, is a good source of protein.

Don't forget the kitchen sink! I have to add that to my list too...then comes the fun part - fitting it all into the car. Then adding the people....

I have the heel issue and I also bring a product by Dr Schools. It is a slick stick form that helps keep bisters at bay.

I love seeing all these lists - it certainly helps with my own packing...

I don't have much to add, but here are a few I don't think I've seen listed:

- Mailing tube - this is to protect any posters, prints, or (roll-able) artwork you might buy. A 16" long, 2" diameter tube works nicely (as long as your items are less than 16" wide) and doesn't take up much space in your luggage.

- If you're just getting smaller photos (such as 8x10" autographed photos), you might not need a mailing tube, but you want something in your luggage to protect them from getting damaged. I've just used a couple of pieces of cardboard, a little bigger than the photos, to surround them (plus any other papers, magazines, etc.) in my luggage.

- Still on this same subject, if you're going to be buying 8x10" photos, you might want to bring along a few magazine-sized plastic bags to protect them. (A pack of 100 bags costs 6 bucks or so at a comic book shop -- just make sure you get the magazine size, not the smaller comic book size.)

There's also the folders you get at office supplies. If your bag is big enough, you can slide it in against the back until you get to the room and lay everything flat in folder. It'll be easier to keep up with. The flexible but tough plastic folders work well for this. I've done it for a couple years. I know the Kinko/FedEx/StoreThing in the Hilton has them.

For 8x10s and my print out of notes, schedules, and to keep the Pocket Program neatly flat, I bought one of those accordion type folders. They have multiple slots and a relatively hard shell.

I tend to get the two pocket ones because they're easier to put in my luggage at the end of the trip. But I'm also local enough that I just get my car outta parking deck and head home. I don't have to worry about too much crunching. But I also don't skimp out when getting the folder.

My schedule is on my phone so I can't lose it like everything else. Same with the notes.

I don't have a fancy enough phone yet :( but I still prefer the paper feel of certain things. I think an iPad would be nice for me one day. I like to keep my folder and a few things in a messenger bag, so the size is probably just right.

Regardless, the OP is getting lots of good advice and different takes :)

I didn't have a fancy phone for awhile, either. Like for 2010, I had a Samsung Galaxy and that thing was useless. Now I've got a EVO Shift, and it's a brilliant brilliant tool since I know most things will be lost when I inevitably spill a drink. The iPad would be nice, but too bulky I'd think. And a bad thing if it got broken. Phones are excellent for pocketing. One of the reasons I got the Shift was the fact I could put a bunch of different stuff on it. Including Note taking for classes during the long lines.

We seek out the dealers in the comics area and buy those really rigid plastic envelopes for our pictures every year. Comes in many sizes.

I-Go Charging System with extra batteries and tips for all my devices. It takes the battery's power and charges things. I can lay it on my lap during panels and chargeup! Got mine at Radio Shack.

I love I-GO. They also sell car chargers so when I change phones all I have to do is change the tip. They also do tips for laptops (mine always goes to Dragon Con for downloading photos etc).

And I also just bought a small travel power strip. There are never enough outlets in a hotel room for the cell phone, laptop etc.

Also thinking of bringing my Nook for the plane ride.

There's my INCREDIBLY LONG and DETAILED list including notes only I would understand (such as zombie socks)...but you get the idea. YES, I pack absolutely everything even though I probably shouldn't. XD

A thing I do is make my packing list by costume, including jewelry/accessories. I also do other categories (food/booze/meds/etc) so that it's not just a giant fuck off list. It's easier for me to spot something missing if it's in a group than if it's a jumble.

Costume 1 (TARDIS), costume 2 (Daniel Jackson), costume 3 (Huffepuff), outfit(s) for party/ies?, make up, various toiletries, mini lint roller, book to read on 4+ hour flight and while waiting in lines, ipod, phone, laptop, camera, chargers/cords, mini sewing kit, business cards, emergency snack rations, and comfortable shoes. Hopefully this will all fit into 1 carry-on and a laptop bag. I'm very efficient at packing things for flights.

So I wouldn't have to check a bag, I shipped my flammables (hairspray and such that can't go in my carry-on) to my friend who will be driving up from Florida.
