I was one of the lucky people (it seems) able to get the full deal reservation at the Marriott yesterday (Thurs-Mon, 2 double beds, etc). I got an email confirming my reservation, along with an acknowledgment number to keep for my records, etc etc. I had previously booked at the Hyatt in case I didn't get in at the Marriot; once I did, I promptly put my Hyatt reserve up for grabs over at [livejournal.com profile] dragonconrooms . Someone expressed interest in it and the transfer was made this morning.

Now, after talking to some people I feel like I made a mistake transferring that Hyatt room. Apparently the acknowledgment number is meaningless and you aren't guaranteed a room until you get a confirmation number? I'm actually kind of upset now and paranoid that sometime in July when my deposit is due I'll find out I don't have a room after all, or something.

I booked at the Hyatt through Passkey as well on September 10th and got an acknowledgment email and number from them, but never a confirmation number.

The mail I got from Marriott states that anyone with an acknowledgment number will have their reservation honored regardless. What should I believe? Is anyone else as nervous as I am right now? Did I just screw myself over? :(

(P.S. on an unrelated note, I finally got my jpeg from Froggy's about three days ago.)

I don't know what it means. Probably the best thing to do is call the Marriott and ask them. If you find out, please let us know because I know I am nervous about this. The Sheraton has yet to take my deposit which means nothing is solid yet.

What deposit? We've stayed at the Marriott for the past six years and we've never paid a deposit of any kind.

I haven't heard of anyone who got a "confirmation number" rather than or in addition to the instant email acknowledgement of a reservation from Passkey. Who are these people you've been talking to? I'd be really surprised if there was some special secret secondary qualifier required to get an "actual" reservation.

Don't be nervous! I think you'll be fine. :)

Marriott is in the process of putting the 3rd party Passkey reservations in their systems. It hasn't happened yet - probably due to the sheer number of reservations. As of this morning, my Marriott Passkey reservations have not appeared in my Marriott Rewards "upcoming reservations" area either.

I made "back-up" Hyatt reservations in September. It took about a few days for those Passkey reservations to appear in my Hyatt Gold "upcoming reservations" area.

I just got off the phone with the Passkey people and they told me that they won't be entered into the Marriott system for months, but that if you have an acknowledgment number you definitely have a room.

Months? Daaaamn. They were telling people not to call the Marriott for changes to reservations for a couple of days. Big difference in days and months there.

Otakon uses PassKey, too, and the data transfer doesn't happen until a month or two before the con. So I was surprised when the info came up during the reservation process for D*con to call the hotel so soon afterward with any questions - your info makes more sense!

I went back to the Passkey site and my reservation shows up there, but I cannot make changes to it. So Passkey has the data, and presumably that means it can be transferred to the marriott.

But this is just a big Charlie Foxtrot.

I wrote Passkey to complain and they apologized for my problems making reservations at the Hyatt.

I hope Marriott learns something from this.

Ok I'm new to this hotel system here. I have an acknowledgment e-mail confirmation number. Is that my confirmation number or will I receive one in my e-mail in a month or so? Anyone?

The general consensus seems to be no freaking clue. I don't think we've used Passkey before.

I'll probably have a new card between now and then that my room will be going on, so hopefully I'll be able to make the changes somehow in time...also, deities willing, a last name change. Is the current theory that there will still be time to make any needed changes to reservations?

I just called the Hyatt directly and was told the acknowledgment e-mail we received is our confirmation e-mail. So I'm crossing my fingers for next year...
