Wanted to give a shoutout about the Atlanta Ambassador Force downtown, especially for our first time visitors:

You're sure to see these folk in the pith helmets and sometimes on a Segway around downtown.

Here's the info and their patrol hours from the atlantadowntown.com site(With the con and the football game, their hours will most likely be extended for D*C weekend):

No matter where you are in Downtown, one of our friendly and helpful Ambassadors is just right around the corner.
Hours:
6:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m. Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m. Saturday
10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. Sunday

Hours are sometimes adjusted to support large special events Downtown.Ambassadors patrol the sidewalks looking for people who need assistance — giving directions, medical assistance, contact with the Atlanta Police Department via direct radio contact. The Ambassadors assist with emergency response for building evacuations and fire drills, assisting with crowd control, information and communication, and to provide a public safety presence.

The Ambassadors are up-to-date on events happening in Downtown whether it's musical or sporting, and they can tell you what large conventions are here also so you can plan your way around the extra traffic.

Okay, so this is the first time I'm going to have to find my way to the hotel from the ATL airport.  The rest of my crew is driving down.

From everything I read here, MARTA seems like the easiest and most economical way to get from the airport to the Marriott.

My question is...How is the safety for a girl taking MARTA alone after like say 10pm on a weekday?

Thanks!

Hey, all! Just wanted to say Hi, hope you have a safe trip to Atlanta this week, and here are my scheduled concerts for Dragon*Con:
  • Friday 8:30 p.m. - Hyatt International South Ballroom
  • Saturday 7:00 p.m. -- Hyatt International South Ballroom
  • Sunday 11:00 a.m. - Hyatt Concourse Stage
  • Sunday 8:30 p.m. - Hyatt International North Ballroom
This schedule is subject to change, and I'm also unofficially on a Babylon 5 panel sometime Sunday. I'll have more updates here, at my own LJ, and at my musicians' table over at the Marriott. Hope to see you there!

If anyone has any last minute ideas, or you just need to re-up on supplies during the con, there is a really good costuming store located about 5 miles away from the hotels called Costumes Etc. They have pretty much anything you need and they also do rentals with special DragonCon rates.  I don't work for them or anything, I was just in in there a few days ago and the woman behind the counter asked if I would mention them. It's only about a 10 minute drive, although I don't know if you can get there via public transportation. Also, they are open every day EXCEPT SUNDAY & MONDAY.  See you all in a few days!

I am sopossed to march in the parade in the Young Adult Litature section. I come to ask if anyone on here has a wheelchair or possible wouldnt mind letting me borrow your powerchair for the parade.I gave myself a trial run the other day and I dont think my poor knees can do the whole half mile. I just wouldnt ask if I didnt think I can do this without assistance. If I dont get any replies before thursday I will sadly have to drop out of the parade which I have been looking forward to. Many thanks -Colleen.

Here is a list of all the academic panels at Dragon*Con that have been organized by the Comics and Popular Arts Conference group. This year's programming would not have been possible without my co-organizer, R. Scott Nokes, our Programming Chair, Damien Williams, and our Programming Committee: Dennis LoRusso, Stephanie Noell, Vickie Willis, and Robin Zebrowski. And of course, all of the fantastic track heads.

It's happened to us all. We need make-up or wig supplies and we either lost of forgot to pack it. Or we just can't get our make-up to work...or our wig totally got flattened while in transit. Many times we just have to deal...but this year, the infamous EMM DIVINE will be set up in the HYATT and on call...ready to help you out!

Emm is a professional make-up artist and hair-stylist and she'll be bringing lots of extra necessary supplies and will also be available to help with hair/wig/make-up if you need her.

Does anyone know the schedule for the main video room?  I thought it was in the pocket program last year but I don't see it in this year's unless I missed it.   I also checked the main Dragon*Con website.
