Anyone here who joined us in our Are You a Werewolf uber-marathon? Got pictures, want to trade info, etc?

FYI, I was "Blue Hat" (Friday), "Carolina Hat" (Saturday), and "Hat w/ Hello Kitty of Death" (Sunday/Monday). My voice is still recovering...

BHPS tape?

Did anyone here tape the Buffy Horror Picture Show? I promised to send one to my mother, but the battery in our camera went dead. I will gladly pay postage/any other fees for a copy!

Much thanks

Just want to say thanks to all the folks who make DragonCon so much fun each year. The stuff, the folks in costume, and pretty much everyone else who goes.

My mom came this year, she was the lady in the big red hat saturday (doubt if many people didn't see her), and she had a great time which speaks volumes on Con.

Thats all from me... g`night/morning!

I was at my favorite people watching spot to the side of the top of the Hyatt main Escalators. While standing there a couple came over (from their conversation, I got the sense they were "Refugees" from the Hurricaine who worked there way up to Atlanta.) They were spewing out the typical "Misunderstanding" most non-con-goers have. Making nasty comments about some of the people in costume like "Gee, these people have nothing in their lives"... Every comment an incorrect sterotype, I wanted to lift him and his wife over the balcony edge, that would have been a nice fall. ;) Of course the wife was making nasty comments about the School Girl costumes and Scantily clad Fairies (I think she was Jealous)

Here are my pictures. I apologize for the blurriness of some of the pics, as i am not a good photographer, nor was i a completely sober one when taking some of these. Oh, and where these are stored they wil dissapear in 30 days, so if you want any snatch them now.

I had so much fun! I got to do everything i really wanted. Meeting my favorite authors, seeing Faith and the Muse, going to an evening in Bree, and just having a hell of a good time. I'll see you all next year!

help!

My camera disappeared at the con. It's a small, silver-colored non-digital camera, possibly Olympus, with about 33 exposures already taken on the film.

They say six or seven cameras were stolen at the con. It's possible I simply lost it sometime after Saturday night (last time I used it) and Sunday, when I noticed it gone. Or someone swiped it when I was looking the other way, because at every con I've attended, you don't have to guard your bag. This was my first Dragoncon.

If it's been found, please contact me! I will happily pay postage and a small reward.

If it was stolen, please realize it's an ordinary film camera and therefore not worth all that much. But if you absolutely must keep it, please mail me the film. I beg you.

It's not just con pictures, although I'd love to keep my shots of Peter David and Harlan Ellison singing "If I Were a Rich Man" together and the photos of me and my fellow Dragon Ladies in our Saturday-night finery.

It also contains my son's fifth birthday party, a trip to the zoo, family events that can't be duplicated.

Please. No Questions Asked. For real.

In yous guys opinions, what was your favourite costume?

I think that the Enormous Kingpin was gorgeous and the Muppet Beaker was spot on.

Oh far too many to name.
What were some of your favs?

I'm looking for pics of the Heckler's Panel. I realize most of you probably don't know what I'm talking about since it wasn't an offical DC panel.

It was a panel which consisted of about 12 people (me included) and over 100 handwritten signs. It was positioned diagonal to the Cruxshadow's table, which is next right next to the doors that exit to the smoking court. The panel lasted for at least 5 hours on Saturday night.

I chased an oompa loompa around the con all evening Saturday until I finally cornered him on the Hyatt Floor. I was in my purple coat and brown top hat as Willy Wonka, and we were blinded by all the flashes immediately after we introduced ourselves to each other. Did any of you take one of those pictures, or do you know where I could see one?

Posted Here/PartyatVernards/Margarita_Fridays/Dragoncon/Dragon_Con

It is finally time for me to post Roll! Just understand I do regret not thinking to do this for Friday's Margarita*Con.. I'm asking that any and all who were there for Friday who read this post comment and with that and what I can remember, I will also formally post that Roll as well.. Thank you, darling Dummy for thinking to bring the Sacred Whiteboard of Roll Call to the party!

Now on to the Roll Call! )

There were two names that could not be made out as part of the names were erased.. Part of one name was Cad and part of the other name was Ta..
If anyone know who they were ~ or anyone else who was at the party and didn't sign their LJ name.. feel free to speak up! =).
Also If I have any names wrongly spelled or anything I apologize profusely and ask for corrections.. I typed out the list as handed to me.

I also note that there were way tons more people than were listed here that attended who were probably either LJ~less or didn't know about the Roll Call..

Those I remember from Friday's Party who wasn't there (that I know of in what was a sweet slightly drunken haze) at Saturday's Flash Party were [livejournal.com profile] indigoskynet and [livejournal.com profile] n3m3sis42

Okie.. That done.. I'm off to drink some tea.. My throat is still raw (and very painful right now) from all the vocal abuse it took over the weekend.. And my body officially now feels like crap.. but oooo it's a wonderful feeling crap..
Yeah.. Dragon*Con does that.. *grinwiggle*..

Anyone who has pics from both parties (and the rest of DragonCon), please feel free to comment here with a link to them =) (I already saw yours [livejournal.com profile] change_my_mind.. Oh.. wait.. I was talking about your pics.. I saw those, too *halo*)
[identity profile] mushroom104.livejournal.com
I had a blast and now I'm very tired! The events were great, the costumes were great, and everyone I met was so nice.

I was the person running around as a sim. Did any of you get pictures of me?

I would love to see them. Thanks. :o)

Just out of curiosity...

How did everyone like DragonCon TV?
[identity profile] cmpriest.livejournal.com
Because you say "not safe for work" and I say "job security" ... does anyone have pictures of the 3 woad-covered barbarian girls from Saturday night? I was the one with long red hair, and my coworkers are driving me nuts wanting to see the costumes. I know about [livejournal.com profile] wyldkyss's stash ... but does anyone else have any others they can share too?

thanks!
[identity profile] zorathenne.livejournal.com
Since I'm getting corrections and adds from my LJ and the communities I posted this to, all corrections will be made on the Roll Call List entry itself..

=) Thanks everyone!

We appreciated every giggle. Please visit http://www.dragoncontv.com to relive your viewing pleasure (still being updated so check back often) and please also visit http://www.technobohemia.com and tell us what you thought about this years DragonconTV! Great feedback makes for a better next year!

Again thanks!

Another Dragon*Con goes, as I start the gears slowly turning for another one -
So let me know what you liked, what didn't work out, what you want to see more of, or anything really that the British Media Track did - my information is on the British Media website
if you don't want to post public.

Can't wait to do it next year!!

It was freaking awesome to be added to the staff of the The Daily Dragon, as Staff Cartoonist! I made cartoons by the hour for 20,000 of my "closest friends" to see on a daily basis. The print edition carried a comic per day; while the online edition has more (they'll be posted soon). I have more to do. Again, can't wait for next year!!!!

I want to thank Techops and The Daily Dragon for the awesome family atmosphere and food!

But nothing beats some home cooking:)

-- back to recovering....more news later...I have lots of stories to tell from this "Con Virgin".

And do we have an idea on the dates for next year's con?

A shot of me in my Hellboy costume from Saturday night. :-) I have to say I got a really great responce to it.

[identity profile] chrisv.livejournal.com
Hi everybody. I was the guy walking around all weekend with a bright orange fraggle on his arm. That's what I've done at all three Dragon*Cons I've been to but this year Rouge (the puppet) seemed to get quite a bit more attention. I know those of you who make your costumes understand when I say how wonderful it is to have enthusiastic people enjoy what you've made. I don't know how many of you have to worry about wiping lipstick off your creation's eyeball, though. ;-) After every con I've sworn I was going to make one or more new puppets and/or do costumes for Rouge (and maybe for myself). Maybe after the great reception this year, I'll actually do it!

I took relatively few pictures this year, so if anyone has or sees some with Rouge in it, I'd love to see them. :-)

Oh boy....

This years Dragon Con was fun, I must say!

The guests that came were nice and fun and there were lots of great booths (I bought a ton of things...mostly Anime and Lord of the Rings stuff but thats not the point!)

Did anyone get to see the Cruxshadows? I stayed up forever waiting for them to perform but I needed sleep (I had stayed out till about 4 that morning playing Age of Mythology with my Mom and Dad and his friends...that game kicks butt!) and I had to go back to my hotel.

I had fun dressing up in costumes (I only got two out of three that I wanted to do done) I was Arumi from Abenobashi Magical Shopping Arcade on Sat. and Sun. I was Samwise (I got more pics taken as Samwise of course only like 3 people knew who Arumi was x_x) I was the Samwise with the sign on my back that said "Mt.Doom or bust"

Sorry all that I could'nt make it to the lj panel but me and my Dad had plans. :/

Oh I will have pics up in my journal soon. I will make it a open entry for a few days where everyone can see the pics! (I am also going to scan the autographs I had gotten)

P.S: Craig Parker should soooo come back next year. He is so much fun!

This was my second Dragoncon and my first year as a staffer. I worked for Info Services, and I had a great time both during and after my shifts. We got a lot of great pictures, and we'll probably get them up on Thursday sometime.

My Dragoncon Report )

All and all it was a good Dragoncon, though I preferred last year’s because we had a hotel room and costumes. I did meet a lot of really cool people though, and had fun hanging out at the info booth with them.

I thought the quality of the panels was about the same this year – some hits, some misses, and you just never know what’s going to be good. I wish I could have gone to some Star Wars stuff, but nearly all of the good stuff was scheduled during my shifts or right before I got off, and those babies fill up quickly.

To me, there weren’t as many impressive costumes this year. There were impressive ones, but not as MANY as there were in 2003, but that’s just my opinion. Maybe costumes are more fun when you’re wearing one, too, I don’t know.

The people at Dragoncon never cease to amaze me, because at least 99% of them are SO FREAKING NICE. Everyone holds doors, says please and thank you, smiles, and is exceedingly polite.

I will be back next year with all the bells and whistles. It was fun, and many thanks to Thomas, who made it possible for me to go this year.

I was wondering if anyone got any pics of me/me & husband that would share... On Saturday I was Little Red Riding Hood ) and he was the Big Bad Wolf. We got stopped quite a lot, so here's hoping! I know [personal profile] photognome took one (two?) of me at the party at 2035 ([profile] evilkarma had changed at home before we returned to have a grand time). And on Sunday I was a pink faery and he was just husband (not too many pics that day - I threw it together since it was spur-of-the-moment to return). Thank you so much in advance!

If someone had come to me, as the director and responsible person for the Kennesaw room and asked if they could use the track room for an off-schedule late night panel, I likely would have said yes, provided that the group that DID ask, and DID get permission were finished with it.

I probably would not even had had much of an issue with it being used without being asked had the people that used it left it the way the found it.

This was not the case.

I do not appreciate the fact that the room was left smelling like stale smoke, and ashes covered the panelist's table.

I do not appreciate the fact that drink cups were left out.

I do not appreciate that when I had panels to run on Monday, the microphones and all the attached cords were missing from the room, and tech ops did not do the removing.

Rest assured, that next year, there will not be an opportunity for this to happen.
[identity profile] puzzleoflight.livejournal.com
I know it's going to take a while for all the pictures to come filtering in, but I'm really curious as to whether anyone got a picture of the guy in the Zapp Brannigan costume Sunday night, or the Alice (from Wonderland) who was probably hanging out nearby. The reason why is that I made both those costumes and forgot to get pictures of them. I need pics of them for my seamstress portfolio, so any help would be appreciated.
[identity profile] brycen.livejournal.com
I loved the con for the most part but I can see where the con needs help. I am not trying to start trouble. I just want to point out some problems.

Problem #1 what was up with the WOT track? I mean it was not a full day of panels. At that point could we have just made it a general fantasy track. I mean hello you got a gothic track but no fantasy tracks yet. NO Buffy Track does not count as supporting fantasy. I want a full open general track that supports Fantasy prefably books. I have sent email every year I have attended and even some years that I have not attended that this was a huge problem.

Problem #2 is that the con is now so widely diverse that nobody gets enough of what they want. There were many times where there was nothing that interested me and then there were times where there was lots of stuff that interested me. Frustration galore.

Problem #3 lack of space in track rooms. Apologies abound from everyone but that did not make it any better. They should of cut off badge sales. Waiting in lines forever to find out there was not enough room to get in to the panel. Putting big time stars in rooms smaller than my own hotel room. What was up with that?

Problem #4 was lack of AC. Many of the rooms smelled like funk. I know this is supposed to be normal for a con but I refuse to put up with it. Both hotels were hotter than hell.

It is time to split the con into several cons. You need science and science fiction on one con and fantasy, art, and gaming on a second con. If the con continues on like this, I will not be attending next year. Something has to change. This years con was too many people in too small of a space. It was too much money for an over sold con where I ended missing out on many panels due to over crowding. There was no real support for the shows and books that interested me. There were major glitches everywhere. There was time changes with little to no warning. There were a lot of DC staff with really bad attitudes.

I also noticed the distinct lack of Female emergency personal. Most specifically female cops. UGH. I was told there were none trained for this kind of detail. Well to the city of Atlanta I say train them because that is one of the lamest excuses I have heard. In this situation Female EMT personel from all three departments should be available without question. There are tons of situations that could come up where a Female would be prefered by a female attendee.

To those who were curious: The Musical that the British Media track was playing (and performing at certain times) was Avenue Q - which is a real musical on Broadway that won several awards. We apologize to the Tolkien track if we drowned them out a few times, but hope it was fun for all.
