This was my second Dragoncon and my first year as a staffer. I worked for Info Services, and I had a great time both during and after my shifts. We got a lot of great pictures, and we'll probably get them up on Thursday sometime.
( My Dragoncon Report )All and all it was a good Dragoncon, though I preferred last year’s because we had a hotel room and costumes. I did meet a lot of really cool people though, and had fun hanging out at the info booth with them.
I thought the quality of the panels was about the same this year – some hits, some misses, and you just never know what’s going to be good. I wish I could have gone to some Star Wars stuff, but nearly all of the good stuff was scheduled during my shifts or right before I got off, and those babies fill up quickly.
To me, there weren’t as many impressive costumes this year. There were impressive ones, but not as MANY as there were in 2003, but that’s just my opinion. Maybe costumes are more fun when you’re wearing one, too, I don’t know.
The people at Dragoncon never cease to amaze me, because at least 99% of them are SO FREAKING NICE. Everyone holds doors, says please and thank you, smiles, and is exceedingly polite.
I will be back next year with all the bells and whistles. It was fun, and many thanks to Thomas, who made it possible for me to go this year.
