Date: 2011-09-02 05:16 am (UTC)We then had a about two and half hours of head scratching while the system bogged down. Even at the slower rate the throughput was about twice the old alphabetical book look up system.
We ask Jobu to come, take fear from MySql temporary table indexes. We offer him cigar, rum. Jobu came through.
Problem fixed about 16:00. We actually emptied the line at 18:00. After that there was never a line of more than five minutes.
We've taken some other steps in case the error or something similar happens again though we think we found the problem.
Thanks for everyone's patience - it will be fun to see the line move again later this morning.

Date: 2011-09-02 12:36 pm (UTC)Unfortunately, I got in line at 2:05 pm. :(
Maybe if it crashes again, let ppl in line (or at least those on ellis and courtland streets) know it's down, and they can come back? Thanks for all the work, regardless. :)
