Well that just sucks. As this is his last year doing these sorts of things, this was my last shot at meeting him. I've not seen a reason for his cancellation either...
It's possible he booked a shoot. Most Film and TV are not cast months in advance and opportunities change all the time for the working actor. Either that or it's personal and won't be explained.
Yep, saw that which was the reason for my post. I do hope it wasn't health related though. I'd rather he had to cancel for work reasons. He's had enough to deal with health wise recently.
As disappointed as I am about Nimoy canceling (considering his retirement from the con circuit) I've heard how much he respects his fans, so I have to sincerely beleive he would have fulfilled this commitment if he could.
It's heartbreaking, knowing so many will now never get the chance to see or hear in person the man that so inspired them, some of whom made the decision to attend D*C with that in mind, as we can't all hop across the country, but we must accord him with the respect he gives us. Anything less would be... illogical.
I wince for D*C. Nimoy is featured in their TV promos. They might get letters about that.
On another note, now's the time to watch that cancelation list like a hawk! We're all commited to attending now, so Murphy's law, and past experience, dictate our favorite celebrities will cancel in the coming weeks/days. Fingers crossed!
I completely agree, and no disrespect to Mr. Nimoy was intended. I also know how much he respects his fans and time and again goes out of his way for them, so I'm sure his cancellation couldn't be helped. It's just a bummer, that's all.
however, he does still get around speaking on other matters, such as his photography, so you may be able to see him at one of those appearances (unless and until he stops doing those too...)
Sorry, didn't mean to imply you were being disrespectful in any way! I never though that, just wanted to second the opinion that Mr. Nimoy would be there if he could.
I was lucky enough to be in the room when he and Shatner were there together last time and got to see them in person, but if you check YouTube, there are tons of D*C panels and events on there, including this panel. Every year they get a flood of new things right after the con.
I was pretty upset as well. I wasn't able to attend DCON 09 so I missed out. I was very excited that I was getting a second chance this year until I logged on and saw the cancelation a few days ago. What a bummer. I hope Bill still makes it. Part of the fun was watching those two go at it with eachother. I did see the panel from 09 on youtube and it looked like a lot of fun.
