Anybody else having issues communicating with Froggy's Photos?

I emailed them trying to get the status of my .jpg picture files that I paid for, but they have hot replied to my emails.

From all accounts they are understaffed, disorganized and unprofessional. They will get to you when they feel like it. If you feel ripped off, a WRITTEN letter of complaint to Dragoncon would probably do more than LJ.

All I can say is file with the BBB.

If you're not getting responses that's what you need to do. I've filed a complaint with them. Everyone having issues needs to do that. And filing a letter of complaint with D*C would be nice as well.

Also if you paid with Paypal (like pre-paid) you need to file a complaint with them. I believe you only have 30 days to file from purchase.

Froggy has finally updated their website.

http://www.froggysphotos.com/news.html

After contacting them on Monday, I requested a refund thru paypal of my $10 on Wed. It's only been a day and I haven't gotten it yet.

Here, here. It's about time D*C got some new photographers.

Don't let this year's DragonCon give you a bad impression of Froggy. I've dealt with him and his crew many times, at DragonCon and other cons, and never had a bit of trouble. Normally, they're a well-oiled machine. This year was completely insane - I put that down to Shatner, Nimoy, and Stewart all being there, and the fact that Froggy got stuck in a tiny corner of the Marriott.

Agreed! I own a small photography business and if I knew anything about how to operate something of this magnitude, I would give it my best shot. I just know I'm not qualified.

Alternatively, they could go back to allowing photographs at the autograph tables.

This.

That's another thing. It was an idiotic decision on the part of whoever makes decisions about guests to have Shatner, Nimoy and Stewart all at this year's con. They are, each of them, too big of stars to all 3 be at the convention at the same time--it would've been much simpler and easier on *everyone's* behalf to have had them all attend over the course of 3 years rather than all at once.

And that's coming from a die-hard Trekkie who goes gagga at the thought of getting to see each of them in person. (Notice, I said the "thought of;" my experience getting to see each of them this year was ruined due to the fact that everything was so darn rushed, to which I hold complete blame on the DragonCon staff, the volunteers and the celebrities' handlers.

I totally agree. After seeing the insanity at the photo-ops, I didn't even try to get near any of the Big Three. A couple of friends tried to get their autographs, but they gave up after seeing the lines.

srgeis, your comment about Froggy's people being unfriendly reminded me of something. When I went down to the photo-ops on Friday morning, there were security people there who were extremely rude. I don't think they were Froggy's people or DragonCon people. I think they were hotel security or something else, because they kept shrieking that if we didn't start behaving (I'm not sure what they expected us to do), that they'd "shut down" the photo-ops. One guy got right in my face and basically told me to get out. I wonder what the deal was with them.

I emailed them yesterday, sent a picture OF my picture and was told I could either get a $7.50 refund or double jpegs NEXT time around.... why would my $200 Patrick Stewart jpeg be only $7.50 when everyone else's is $10? Hmmm... anyway, I emailed Sarah at patentleather@froggysphotos.com.... she was pretty quick to reply. Try using that email. Good luck!

I emailed Wednesday morning and got a reply late Thursday night. Sarah said she'd been having computer issues but they were resolved now. (I know, who wants to hear another excuse from Froggy's, but sometimes life just sucks like that.)

I've never done the photos because FOR ME, they're overpriced and look like something off of AwkwardFamilyPhotos.com. However I have been on this LJ and several mailing lists for years and years and I see these complaints come up about Froggy's every year. So, while some people may get lucky and have good experiences, it seems like a big enough segment of the population dealing with them has problems every year that it should tell you something about their business practices, on the whole.

I think they could offer both. I am in favour of the business side of things, thereby allowing an option for those seeking a professional photograph rather than a domestic one- but at the same time this should not be capitalised on nor should it dominate and take away from the original concept.

Gives us the option to get a picture at the table and also for something a little more professional if we so desire it.

I am inclined to agree to an extent. The huge double edged blade. Great to have them present, chaos for many reasons due to this. They *need* to to have posted signs, or something to communicate that these people will not personalise your items. That at least would save the issue of being advised non too politely that your request is not possible.

I've said this before and I'm not complaining nor am I being petulant about it but my bubble was completely burst after William Shatner squiggled on my Boston Legal dvd set, it took five seconds with no eye contact and a sutble thankyou. I will always enjoy his work, but the distance was obvious.

A family friend of ours got her opportunity of a lifetime, a picture with SHater and Nimoy. She said that though she enjoyed it, for her 160 dollars or whatever it was she got five seconds.

See, that to me is one for the fans, that's a sausage machine conveyor belt business. IT's a shame that it must be run this way. Oh well.

I just sent an email requesting that they find my JPGs and send them along. ;o) If not an option, gave them my paypal account email and my snail mail addy so they can refund me my $30!! Also requested a reply to the email regardless of which action had to be taken.

We'll see how long it takes for someone to get back to me about it. I'm hoping they find my 'non-edited' pics in a back up thingy.

BTW - Srsly? They edit these pics before putting them out on a table? I find that hard to believe. Is it just a 'cropping' kinda thing? Cuz it's not like they go and airbrush blemishes off the actor's faces or anything like that. Cuz with the volume of pics being taken and printed, they have very little time to actually do any type of serious editing. IMHO

Possibly that people were a problem, and they weren't getting out of his way? If the hotel security says "move", D*C security will say "move". D*C uses the space, but XXX owns the hotel and gets to have final say on everything.

That's just the thing - nobody was "in the way". Everybody was lined up, squashed against the wall. The only people that were "in the way" were people entering and exiting the building. Since there was only one door, people couldn't exactly get out of the way. I got yelled at as I was trying to get out of the building. Plus, the dealer's room was right across the hall, so people had to walk right through the photo-op area to get into the dealer's room. It was just a really bad setup.

This is why I don't even like meeting celebs. My BF makes getting photos/autos his mission at any con we go to but...I figure, they're probably jerks in real life, I like who they are on screen. I don't want the illusion ruined for me.

We heard about this editing business at the con...someone said they 'shopped a smile on to Shat's face because he wasn't smiling. We know someone who works for/with Froggy and he said that's not true. I doubt they're even cropping. Maybe just futzing with color/saturation, that sorta thing.

I'm now kinda glad I couldnt afford their prices. >_> But I honestly think after all the problems so many ppl have with them and Froggy isnt speaking or giving a solution that they should be banned from D*C all together.

Maybe a diffrent company would be the best choice from now on, even if that req a price change. Though I doubt they can get any more expensive.

Do the charges reflect froggys work only? Or did the stars get a cut? Because if there wasnt a cut then froggy is ripping you all off. A single digital copy dosent cost $10... so who got what of that price.

think about the idea of holding "complete blame" on a group mainly made of volunteers. We don't get to do much at con other than try to keep the damn thing running to an extent that people can enjoy the things they want to do....basically WE don't get to do the stuff we want to do either. Maybe it'll be fun to see what happens when the majority of the volunteers just aren't there. I'm *really* sure that'll make it better.

I could not reach them via phone, email, website, or regular mail. I filed a claim with my credit card company and they refunded my $175 for the Nimoy/Shat. You may consider doing the same.
