Why doesn't Dragon*Con send out badges before the con?
Does anyone know? I'm just thinking "you know, why bother to register when you can just walk up and get a ticket next year" besides it being cheaper, I think I'm willing to opt out of a 3-4 hour line for 50 bucks.

You gave up a FOUR DAY convention because you didn't want to stand in a line that takes 2-3 hours to get through if you aren't there at the beginning? Yes, they need to revisit the system, but if you missed your panels, missed the con, and all that, you can't blame the con for that. I actually managed a record time of 1 hour and 43 minutes this year for the pre-reg line, and you know what? It was worth it for hanging out at the con, showing off my awesome costume with my baby, seeing friends, having a great time at the con. I've been standing in pre-reg lines at Dragon*con for 10 consecutive years now, and it's always worth it. You didn't want to stand in one line at the beginning, and screwed yourself. You're right, you did waste the money your dad and grandmother gave you, because you couldn't stand to wait in line that would take up a teeny FRACTION of your con. You have no one and nothing to blame but yourself.

I completely agree with this. Honestly, who does this?? You had a suitcase so I assume you also had a hotel room, and probably transportation costs. Why would you leave? In fact I really doubt that this incident occurred at all. Complain, go away and come back later, bring a book -- but not just leave. Nobody does that.

Also, the lines for some panels (certainly the ones I went to) were a good two hours long. Lines are part of DragonCon. It's always worth it.
