All right everyone, fess up...who had a great time meeting a D*Con guest this year?

My roommate had a memorable Skittle-related encounter w/Ghost Hunter Steve while I was bowled over by my time with Bruce Boxleitner (with a little side heckling from Peter Jurasik).

Bring on the stories!

Kristy Swanson was so nice! And it was great to briefly meet Leonard Nimoy and get to say hi to him!

I had a great experience meeting Barry Bostwick. He was super nice and funny, and actually took the time to chat with me for more than 30 seconds. Totally cool guy.

He was awesome. My cast got to hang out with him extensively before the show, plus I saw him at his table as well. He was super nice and very good-natured about us dragging him out of bed at two in the morning. XD

Felicia Day was absolutely delightful. We were the first people in her autograph line, and she arrived without her handler, so she couldn't start signing or taking money until he got there. We ended up just standing there chatting with her for like 15-20 minutes until he got there, and she is completely down to earth, funny, friendly, and appreciative. Much love to Felicia. I already was a fan, but that encounter cemented my respect for her.

She was awesome. She squeed over my picture with John Schneider. :)

Monday morning I was getting a massive Starbucks coffee, because by then, who was really coherent? Next to me was a half nekkid Eric (Erik?) Roberts, looked as rumpled as I felt. He had on one of those massive tank tops with the huge arm holes--showing lots of chest--and the baggiest pair of grey sweatpants I'd ever seen. And he still looked a little on the handsome side! The baristas gave him free coffee, and me too (I have no clue as to why), and before I trotted off, I said, "Have a nice day, Mr. Roberts." He smiled and said for me to do the same. I would've said more, but looking like we did, I figured we were both just too tired for conversation. =)

Can I second the "Eric Roberts is pretty awesome" section of this post?

My friend wanted to get a photo with him, so we used my (expensive lol) camera. He wanted to check the photo to make sure it was good. I hadn't taken my camera off multi-shot by accident and took two by mistake - I of course deleted the one where he thought his teeth looked bad and kept the other (they looked fine imo lol). Then for some reason to my surprise he gave me a photo as well, nice tight hug o.o Probably blushing in that one, he may be my senior but definitely a good looking man . . .

Anyway, very accomodating, laidback, friendly kind of guy, very surprising in some way for a celeb in a debutante type family!

I surprised Dwight Schultz by remembering him from something other then the A-Team or ST:TNG. (Sherlock Holmes: The Stage Production) t was fun to see his face light up.

A friend of mine, Froggy lost her PayPal papers. She was almost in tears. The lady very nicely wrote her out for her photo-op. Dirk Benedict, who was just leaving, came back for the photo.

Dinner with Peter Beagle, but then, that's become something of a tradition. It was great.

And a hug from Doug Jones, who is an absolute sweetheart. And, evidently, addicted to Kit Kats. He gave my husband 2 pieces during 2 different visits.

Not entirely sure who exactly Doug Jones is, but I heard a lot of nice things about him. A friend of mine hung out with him pretty extensively during the con.

Alan Ruck. My sister and I love "Twister," so we printed out an Oklahoma map and drew in "Bob's Road" for him to sign, and he loved it. We chatted about where they filmed (he was impressed that we knew the Storm Prediction Center is in Norman -- we're also weather geeks). He signed with "Rabbit is good, Rabbit is wise," then added at the bottom "P.S. Bob sends his love." And we got a very cute picture. Yay!

John Schneider was also awesome in both the photo shoots and Walk of Fame, and Felicia Day was fantastic, as I noted above. My sister had a great time with Tom Felton during several encounters as a volunteer. (And the Ghost Hunters guys, too, but they already knew her.)

Tom Felton was very polite and chatty at the Walk of Fame.

My sister and I shared an elevator with Justin Chon (Twilight). It was early and we didn't want to go all fangirl on him, so we just shared polite 'Good Mornings'.

Two hours later, we're in line to get his autograph and he said, "You guys were in the elevator with me!" We nodded, shared pleasantries, and he signed the photos, "Nice meeting you in the elevator!" *laughs*

I ran into Kate Mulgrew in the bathroom, and we chatted about how awesome her shoes were and how much the automatic toilets/faucets suck.

And then I saw Kate Vernon in the same ATL terminal shuttle car as I after the con was over and we were all heading home, but I was too chickenshit to do anything. Yet it was still cool.

Though every celeb I met was wonderful, special kudos to Eric Roberts and Doug Jones. My boyfriend was getting an autograph & photo from Eric Roberts, and after I took the picture, Mr. Roberts motioned for me to stand beside him and said "lets take one too, as a freebie!" Being a fan, I was ecstatic!

When my friends and I met Doug Jones, we were all dressed as the Sanderson sisters (Hocus Pocus). He geeked out, gave us many hugs, told us stories about how it was to work with Bette and Sarah Jessica Parker, then two took photos with us (one standard, and one more 'in character'). He was even more excited about seeing us as we were to meet him!

If you were the Sanderson sisters I saw walking around one evening I almost screamed and ran over squee at you guys. My friends held me back because we were on our way to something and were running behind. But I loved your costumes and wish I had my cat Binx there to take his photo with you. Much kudos and I hope to see them back next year! :D

Gareth David-Lloyd and his handler specifically asked me and my friend to take a photo with him and email it to his official site because he loved our Dalek costumes so much. He was completely charming and sweet and we fangirled mightily afterward about it.

I ran into Gareth David Lloyd no less than 7 times, 6 of which were accidental. This includes twice as the Hitcher for the Mighty Boosh, once when he was coming back from the pool, and once when I was oneritred and grumpy and he was a tad tipsy at 3 am.

Doug Jones was an absolute sweetheart to meet! He just went crazy about my daughter(who slept through the whole meeting in her mei tai I was wearing her in) and gave us both a kiss on the head and told my husband to be a good boy, "PROMISE ME!" It was great because Doug Jones was pretty much the whole reason I wanted to go to Dragon*Con in the first place...well, him and Leonard Nimoy.

And Eric Roberts couldn't stop waving at my daughter during one of the panels.

not that interesting, but here's mine;
http://archersangel.blogspot.com/2009/09/d-con-report-day-3.html

afterwards my brother & i headed for the restrooms and agreed to meet in the con suite. about 10 feet to the right of the ladies' room is a door for hotel staff only, it opens & paul mcgillion comes out with his handler and they go past, either to the men's room or the charity auction he was hosting. i'm not sure witch. on the way out of the ladies' room i see the back of joe flanigan as he walks by to the hotel staff door (i presume it was him. that hair is fairly unmistakable) & his handler (a man or a large woman) shoves him in the back with both hands! that was uncalled for, he was walking along at a good rate. i hope he gave him/her a piece of his mind later.
some people have their "celebrity encounters" in a bar or an elevator, i have mine near the ladies' room. *rollseyes*

http://archersangel.blogspot.com/2009/09/d-con-report-day-4.html
on the way through the marriott lobby, near the starbucks, i see malcom mcdowell having coffee at this bar-thing they have set up. i pointed him out to my brother (by muttering out of the corner of my mouth), who pretended to check out something in the gift shop to confirm that it was him. on the way out my brother said; "i'm jealous, you got to see 3 famous people." i said; "it was more like 2 1/2, because i only saw that one guy from the back."
well at least not all of my "celebrity encounters" happened near the ladies room.

I was too sick to make it to the con, but Alessandro Juliani (BSG, Death Note, Smallville) called me from my friend's cell and chatted with me for a little bit. That was a pretty great experience. :) He also met up with the group from [livejournal.com profile] gaeta_squee for dinner and drinks. Suuuuch a wonderful man!!

On Friday, I helped present cakes for the Colonial Fleet party to Mary McDonnell and she was just the absolute sweetest! She was so down to earth and she even introduced me and the guy I had met up with to Kate Vernon!

Michael Trucco was also very nice. I went up to speak to him on Monday to tell him about how me and my dad have connected over BSG and he seemed genuinely happy to hear it. Plus, he actually asked my name and went "Hi Ashley, I'm Michael." Cue me giggling like a school girl.

And I briefly went to thank Ron Glass for an autograph he had done for my friend back in 2007 and he's just as nice as I remember him.

This is lame, but my husband and I got sat right across from a big table including all the MST3K guests on Thursday night at Trader Vic's, and it kind of made our Dragoncon ... lol, we were drinking ... quite a bit and spent most of the meal trying to decide if we should go over and introduce ourselves. We didn't do it (and I'm glad, haha) but we had such a good time just lol'ing in amazement at sitting in the same room with them and watching them eat. :D

While Bruce Boxleitner was signing autographs, I walked up to Peter's line, in costume as a Centauri. Peter lit up. He was very complimentary of the costume (which a friend of mine made), and grinning asked "may I touch the hair?"

"For you, of course!", and leaned forward. The "hair" is a wig that maintains its Centauri crest through the miracle of spray shellac. (It's tough -- I bet it could deflect spears hurled at it by the Spartans.)

Bruce saw Peter was up from his chair, glanced at the costumed character and said "Londo, meet Londo!"

When I was leaving the room, the exit door was closed, so I reached down to press the bar to open it. As I did, the door swung open and Joe Flaningan and escort attempted to walk in. Joe's mouth didn't open, but the surprise on his face -- at coat and wig? -- read "what the hell is that?" If I wasn't as startled I would have at least said "excuse me", but didn't have that much presence of mind. Once I got back into the hall I finally had a good chuckle.

Joe Flannigan and Paul Mcgillion! They were the friendlest, most lovely guys out of everyone I met. Joe shook my hand twice, once after the photoshoot and then after I got my autograph. Paul took time to say hi look me in the eye a good long time and chat with me and my friend for quite some time. You could tell they were really people friendly....

Catherine Bach & John Schneider were SO incredibly nice! I did a photo op and later an autograph with them, and they couldn't have been more charming and wonderful.

I spent one second apiece with Tom Felton and Peter Facinelli doing Froggy's photos and they both were nice, and the pictures came out well.

Craig Parker kissed my cheek after my friend & I won our category of the Tolkien costume contest. That made me seventeen kinds of happy.

I think my fav stor was actually my Dad's (who does not have an LJ thus me sharing)

He was in the men's room outside the Walk of Fame and noticed a guy with a cool NASA hat. My dad being a total NASA nerd started talking to this random guy about his hat, past experiences getting to watch rocket launches etc. Then as they were separating dad suddenly realized that this guy was very familiar...it was Michael Hogan.

My dad is a huge BSG fan and the fact that it took him several minutes to figure out who he was talking to is very funny. Plus he usually tries to leave celebrities alone when they meet up in the bathroom and wouldn't have talked to him if he'd recognized him right away.

As for me - I agree with many of the others that Tom Felton and Felicia Day were really awesome.

Since I spend a lot of my time in the Walk of Fame, there'd be too many stories to list from there. I'd say the majority of guests exceeded my expectations about being friendly to fans. And even the rest were pretty nice, not a single bad encounter for me.

I'll talk about some unexpected stories instead. I was getting into an elevator at the Hilton and Michael Hogan walks in with me. Remembered me from just a few mins prior of seeing him at a panel and was very chatty/friendly on our slow way up.

After the Thriller dance, my friends and I were looking at different restaurants around the area to decide where to eat. Across the street, I recognize Felicia Day and jumped up and waved and said hi. She probably thought I was drunk but gave me a polite wave and smile back :)
