Huge Thank Yous and Big Love from Parade

To everyone who participated and made it the smashing success it was - thank you from the collective and proud hearts of the Dragon*Con Parade staff.  You are the incredible face of Dragon*Con and an absolute joy to watch marching up Peachtree!  Hope you caught a glimpse of yourselves on DCTV, CNN, other networks and local news outlets, YouTube and Yahoo, and in the thousand of pictures taken. 

Big love to staff and directors from other areas of Dragon*Con  that helped us make the parade happen.  Couldn't do it without your very much appreciated support.

We hope everyone, participants and onlookers alike, enjoyed the parade as much as we did!

Let's do it again next year!

Thank YOU for such a great parade. I sat by a family with 2 young boys who were so excited to see all their character comes to life. Thanks for organizing and putting on such a great public face to the Con.

I always love seeing the parade!! It's one of my must-sees every year and it's always great!

I did have a question: what was up with changing the parade route and then changing it back again. It caused mucho confusion for us trying to get a good spot. Here's hoping it will just say the same as it's been in the past year year! :)

Hi Jenn,

The end of the route was changed in 2007 due to the Marriott construction. We couldn't get to the Marriott's back entrance on Courtland because of a block's closure on Baker - so we ended the parade at the Marriott's front door instead.

In 2008 we went back to our pre-construction route, which was the same route used as this year.

Sorry about any confusion, right now we don't anticipate any changes from this year's route in 2010. The parade should start on Peachtree St at Woodruff Park (corner of P'tree and Auburn), continue north on Peachtree to Baker at the front entrance of the Hyatt, following Baker to Courtland, and ending at the back entrance of the Marriott.

That wasn't really the confusion, actually. (Not trying to be argumentative...I know it's hard to tell in these posts!) The pocket program listed an entirely different parade route than last year. It also wasn't the parade route that you ended up using. Somehow, I don't think I'm saying that clearly. :-P The route the parade actually marched appeared to be the same this year and last year. However, THIS year, the parade route listed in the pocket program was totally different. I think it was supposed to end in front of the Peachtree Center Mall place instead of the back of the Marriott. Anyway, it caused a bit of confusion because there were people waiting along the route listed in the book, but it didn't go that way.

It turned out okay cause I think we all had time to make our way back to the original route, I just wanted to point it out since no one had mentioned it. XD
