Ooops. Should have asked here. If I want to purchase an Eternal Membership, do I still go to the Sheraton? Can I buy one of those with a credit card?

Start off by trying to find the Eternal line, which will be on one side of a smaller room off the big main Registration room. (The other side of our room is the Guest line.) Maybe they can take your purchase there, but do not be astounded if they send you to the Solutions line in the main room.

I think the credit card will be okay IF the credit card readers don't crash.

If I'm in line before 10:00 pm on Thursday will I be able to pick up my pre-registered badge even if I haven't made it to the front of the line by then? Or does registration shut down at 10:00 pm and everyone in line has to come back Friday morning? (I feel like that might be a silly question, but if anyone knows for sure, it'd be greatly appreciated.)

In past years, as I understand it, the Registration crew has called it quits at eleven, which is why at ten someone steps out to the end of the line and says, "This is all we can do tonight! See everyone else tomorrow!"

I'm still not a ConCom, so I can give you no Official Guarantees, of course. Certainly you want to be in line sooner rather than later, anyway!

Are the rules for picking up someone else's badge the same for eternals? A letter and a copy of the drivers' license?

I'm afraid not: I can't quickly find the post, but I believe that badges which would normally be picked up in the VIP/Guest/Eternal room are not retrievable by allies.

wookieegunner and I, for example, can't pick up each other's badges any more.

Now, an Eternal can pick up a non-Eternal's badge using the Permission Slip System, though it might involve retrieving the Eternal badge first and then visiting the Solutions line.

Forgive me for the newb questions, this is my first transfer.

If we're transfering a pre-reg membership to someone else, they can still pick up with the other pre-reg's right? Do they have to wait in line with me? Or can we split once we've traded off the signed paper etc? Do I give them the pink reg card thing?

Do we just leave the badge number space blank since we don't know it? The pink reg doesn't even have the badge name, let alone a number.

Oh and non transfer question, how early can we begin getting in line? I know it doesn't open till 4pm but surely the line will start earlier?

You can get in line an hour before Registration opens, maybe two, without anticipating the Angry Face from Security or Law Enforcement. Wear sunscreen! Use a parasol! Bring something weatherproof to do! Introduce yourself to the person in line behind you! Don't forget to call and write!

Transfers must be accomplished in the Solutions Line. The buyer must be in that line, not the buyee: you get in the line for your badge. It would make the buyer's transfer a bit easier if you hand over to them the postcard that goes with that badge, along with the as-complete-as-you-can transfer form.

Hey guys, I find myself in possession of two hotel rooms that I no longer need. I'd love to transfer these reservations to someone else!
I have one double bed room at the Hilton at $215/night for Thursday thru Monday, and one double bed room at the Hyatt at $159/night for Friday thru Monday. My main email is saneteapot @ gmail .com and as I'll be driving down tomorrow it's probably best to just call me 614-323-5269!

I know the hotels are sold out, so I'd love for these to go to someone who'd appreciate 'em!

That's odd, because they weren't going to charge mine, and it's a debit. We were paying cash, so it didn't matter. They did charge a $50 deposit, though, which we weren't prepared for.

I paid a friend $50 for his pre-reg, and he scanned and emailed me the signed form. However, I just noticed that the badge number is missing, and that I might in fact need that.

Will I be able to get a badge at the con without this number? I called him (he lives in Texas) and he says he "never received one." :(

We were close to the doors at 9 when a guy on a Segway rolled up and told us to go home - registration had closed for the night.

Anyone have any idea what happened? I understood that last year the doors didn't close until 10.

i'm sorry :/ that sucks.

i don't know officially what happened but from what i went through to get my badge earlier, it was a hot mess in there and lines were wrapped around in all kind of ways..so maybe they figured that if they didn't close the doors at 9 that they might not get out until 12 or later?

I bought someone else's pass, mailed the transfer form into the main office on Monday... then today read this message (http://community.livejournal.com/dragoncon/2107193.html) about how all form transfers need to be done at the convention as of August 25. Shoot. Is there any way to do this at the convention without my forms on-hand? Would I need to have the person I bought the pass from there? I was planning on picking up my pass tonight.
