I hate to clutter things up with a slightly random question, but I need advice. :<

Part of one of my costumes isn't going to be ready by the time I hop on my plane Friday. The plan is to have it sent UPS Next Day Air, direct to the Hyatt. I've never done this before, but the person shipping it has, and has never had a problem with it. I'm extremely nervous about this, because that particular costume hinges on that package; without it, I'll have a few useless props taking up room in my bag.

Has anyone shipped something to the con before? Mind telling me about your experience and maybe..hopefully..settling my nerves?

SO EXCITED. 8D First Dragon*Con!

I've never had anything shipped to the Hyatt, but I've shipped to the Marriott multiple times, no problems.
My one suggestion is to ask your shipper to require a signature, if you can. A couple of times I've had hotels tell me they can't find my package, but I tell them that I have the tracking number here and it says it was delivered and signed for by "J Smith" or whoever... and both times they've immediately found it. Just having that helps save some headaches.

Well, it wasn't a costume piece so much as a bottle of Absinthe, but yes I do have experience with having something shipped to me at the Hyatt, and no their was no problem getting it. Great advice in the first post too.

My tips:

Make sure you ship to the name on the reservation. You can ship to another persons name but it makes it easy for the hotel. "Hello Mr/Mrs. Smith, it looks like we have a package for you"

If you are shipping it after you have you room number - add tha as well.

I haven't shipped something to Dragon*Con, but I have shipped multiple items from work to hotels (in several different countries). I always put:

GUEST: (Person's Name)

in the address, just in case.

I have never had issues with it :)

Have a great time at your first D*C!

I had to do this this year! Other websites that I consulted said that it's helpful to also make sure your arrival date is on the label.

So mine said:

Name (Arriving: 9/4/09)
Hilton Atlanta Hotel
Address

Hope that's helpful!
