I figured since Charlaine Harris is going to be at DragonCon this year I would do a easy Sookie Stackhouse cosplay. Is anyone else doing a True Blood cosplay? I would love to see Bubba or Eric in his pink spandex.

New Track for 2009 - Historical Fiction, Steampunk, Etc.

If you haven't already run across one of my posts on another community, I'm pleased to announce that this year, there will be a brand new fan track incorporating steampunk, alternate history, and other related genres.

I do not yet have a list of guests, panels, or anything else, but the anachrodragon community will feature regular updates.

If you'd like to help out, please contact me. I am full on staff (i.e., those folks who get a badge but in return have to work 25 hours at the show), but I welcome ALL volunteers and anyone who just wants to come and hang out in our track room--especially those with ideas for panels, etc.

Also, we will be having a presence in the parade. If you, or someone you know, has an antique vehicle of some sort and would like to show it off in the streets of Downtown Atlanta on the Saturday morning of Con, please let me know ASAP. :)

periodic table at dragoncon 2009

Time for another semi-monthly call :)

I want to get 110 people together and go in the 2009 parade as the periodic table of the elements. It's easy -- pick an element, then do whatever you want to be that element. You can think big or think simple; the only "rule" is that you write the element's info on your costume. For instance, my Hydrogen costume will include:

Satellite Hotel Questions

Hi everyone! One of my friends is thinking about coming to D*C this year and looking to stay at one of the overflow hotels. She specifically mentioned the Days Inn on Spring Street, but overall, she's looking for somewhere safe and relatively close. Any advice or anecdotes would be very helpful.

Since there was a lot of interest in a Parade group, I figured I should post this over here too.


Because of the nature of the group and the way we are setting up the float, we're going to start with only one person per character to prevent over-crowding. We will allow multiples of repomen, because it is cannon, and we need lots of GENterns and Scalpel Sluts. Once we get a good number of people interested, then we'll possibly open the list back up for doubles of main characters. We're just doing this to start because we know the nature of the parade, and we know that people often skip out... And we don't want 13 Mags walking around with only one Amber. We want a decent distribution of characters.

If there's a character not listed that you're interested in (like the reporter or something) Let me know and I'll add it.








Please make sure that if you request a character that you plan on following through. If something happens in advance of the parade please let us know. We won't hold it against you, but we want to ask the next person that was interested if they'd join us. If you have a tendency of oversleeping for the parade, or aren't sure you can get up then join us for the photogatherings and let someone else do the parade.
