Hello there; I'm in Charleston, SC and I'm looking to make this year's con. While I've managed to make rooming arangements with a friend at Emory, I don't really have a way of getting to Atlanta - I was planning to take the bus, but it's only recently that I've checked and learned the shortest route via Greyound is three stops and that I can't book the trip as a whole, I have to do individual stops and puzzle out my connections. Add to that the route is a bit roundabout, and, well, the bus system is not looking promising.

So, first, is anyone here from Charleston or thereabouts who's going to the con this year? Know anyone?

Know anyone willing to give someone a ride? Willing to give a ride to someone prepared to cover quite a bit of gas money?

I'd prefer to leave Friday late afternoon and come back latish Monday, but I'll see if I can work around what I can get.

Any help? I still need to check with some guys I know who went two years back and see if they're heading down again, but as it's getting more than just close I know I need to be on top of things. - Paul McCann

You can also check the Rides forum at http://conroommates.org

There have been a few postings in there, but I haven't kept up.

Actually, haven taken the bus to Atlanta from Charleston for DC 2 years ago, you do NOT book each part of your trip seperately. You'll have a couple transfers, but you don't book them seperately, they are all included on one ticket. I have just checked it actually. And if you buy your ticket now, the 7 day advance fair is $78 roundtrip ($93 after taxes and fees).

I am coming from Charleston myself.....if we had room in the car, I'd offer you a spot...but with 4 people, costumes, merchandise for an exhibition table, and luggage...well, we're not even sure how we're getting all of us in there.

I went to the Greyhound website and looked it up. You can call the local station (or the 800) and talk to them also. They'll be able to give you better details.
