1. It's probably too late in the year to get something REALLY GOOD made, because the super good costume makers have already been booked at this point. So adjust your expectations accordingly.
2. Check out cosplay.com. They have a review section for the makers: - http://www.cosplay.com/forumdisplay.php?f=175
as well as a Marketplace for those looking for work. - http://www.cosplay.com/marketplace/index.php
3. Consider some mashup/variant ideas you can make on your own. It's a good way to stand out without breaking your bank.
With limited time to create a custom outfit, and also to slowly ease into what some of those "custom outfits" can cost, you can always consider purchasing a commercial costume for your first outfit, and then "kitbashing" it into something unique for you. Pick the version of Batgirl you are looking for (TV, Movie, Comic), find a costume you like from an online costume store (like buycostumes.com), and then either buy or create some unique accents to go with the costume. Want even more unique on a budget? Find an old prom dress, sew a Batman logo on it, get some gloves, a mask and cape, and you're Prom Batgirl! Then, if you really want a custom made for you outfit, you can research costume creators, but until then you can have fun with just a set of Batgirl pajamas if need be. Good luck with your hunt!
She super quick and very talented. I ordered my Wonder Woman Costume from her on Jan 2nd, and got it on Jan 23rd. Be warned, shop is pricey, I had to save for a few months to afford it!
She's very nice, I'm sure if you send her an email she will get back to you with a time frame to see if she can get you a costume commissioned in time..
I don't know if you are still looking, but if you haven't found a costume maker I can vouch for mine easily. Timing will of course be a big factor, but if you are looking for something postcon I'll be glad to give you her information.
She has an impressive resume as she works with the local University's Theatre costume department and teach their students. Let me know, or anyone else, if you'd like to contact her.
If you are on FB here is her FB page: https://www.facebook.com/jeannie.w.crawford
Have a wonderful time a DragonCon. If you see me in her Steampunk Star Sapphire costume, come on up and say hi. DC friends are the best kind of friends.
