Hi all...Con time is slowly creeping up on us and I thought I would check with the community here before I attempt any further videos. For those unfamiliar, I have been doing hotel walk through videos of the con area for the last 2 years. I am wondering if the videos I have done are enough and I should just be happy with it or if things can be improved upon.
Here is a link to my videos. http://www.youtube.com/user/Forelorn99/videos
My thought for this year is to try to get access to the new area, as referenced in the "Whats New in 2013" section of the website:
"Additionally we are pleased to announce that in 2013, our vendor halls will be moving from the Atlanta Marriott Marquis to the Atlanta Convention Center at AmericasMart, Building 1, floors 1 and 2."
Does anyone here know if I can freely walk around that area on a weekend or weekday even? Is it closed to the public unless an event is happening? And again lastly if you think there is something I can do better please let me know.
Thanks!

Date: 2013-06-21 08:11 pm (UTC)And not a video request, but I was just rewatching your 2011 video showing the walk from the Peachtree Center Food Court to the Suntrust Food Court (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aOD2bqAKdM). I've still never made it over to that food court, and I noticed in the video comments that there's some debate as to what days the Suntrust food court is open during DragonCon weekend. Do you have any more information about which days it's open?

Date: 2013-06-21 08:19 pm (UTC)"AmericasMart Atlanta is a wholesale marketplace and is closed to the general public. Visitors to AmericasMart must be active members of the retail or wholesale industry and be affiliated with a business that resells product represented in our buildings. Business credentials must be presented for entrance into any of the buildings."
Dragon*Con's use of one of their facilities seems to be something out of the ordinary for them, although it's still not open to the general public during the con.
Here's their web site address:

The floor plans of the two floors that D*C will be using are attached to the vendor's application on the D*C website:

There are a few mistakes on the floor plan. The bank isn't a Wachovia (they went belly up a few years ago). It's now a Wells Fargo, the bank that took over Wachovia's assets and accounts. Also, I don't think that Durango's restaurant is where they show it. Looking at the street view on Google maps, it appears that location is Ray's in the City. Durango's is down the block a bit to the south.

Date: 2013-06-21 08:28 pm (UTC)Last year I actually was hassled by the people at the Westin. Toward the end of the walkthrough there are 2 security guards that basically ask me to leave through the motor lobby then also at the very end as I shut the camera off a third came running after me. The other hotels did not seem to mind, but the Westin is a little more picky. I just told them I was filming for a personal project.

Date: 2013-06-30 01:18 pm (UTC)I stayed at the Westin last year and was really satisfied with it, although there was frequently quite a wait for an elevator. The rooms were just remodeled last year and are excellent! I would have stayed there again this year, but couldn't get a room. But, I was lucky enough to snag a room at the Hilton, which is just a block and a half to the north of the Sheraton on Courtland.
