Bad luck at the hyatt

Well, tomorrow is the last day before the Hyatt takes the deposit. I've been trying all month and year to catch a cancelled reservation and no such luck. Has anyone else been luck?

You scared me. I had to call them. I booked my Hyatt room after the initial storm of bookings. Actually I wasn't able to get a room until May. Anyway, I read your post and was like WHAT deposit? I called and she told me that today is the last day IF you have the DC rate. I hate that I had to pay a little more for my room but at least I don't have to worry about money coming out now.
I guess my point is that it does happen. I got lucky in May calling the hotel direct looking for a room/cancellation.

The deposit for dragon con with the Hyatt was paid at booking this year if you booked through passkey, at least mine was.
I even called to confirm that earlier in the month.
This may be why your not seeing as many cancellations at this point.
Last year i got mine a couple months before con as well.

The issue isn't whether the deposit was paid, but rather that this is the last day that a reservation can be canceled with the deposit refunded.

My reservation says it only must be cancelled by 3pm, 24 hours prior to arrival to avoid 1 nights room and tax penalty. So have cancellation up to 8/29. And it was the DC rate.

There are some cancelling, as I just transferred mine via the dragonconrooms group here on LJ a few days ago. The guy was put on the list in October though, so Hyatt seems to be moving slower than others cancellation wise. Hope you can find something!

Hey, I take care of the transfer list, but haven't had anyone let me know they received a room recently. Could you let me know who you transfered to so I could remove them? Thanks!

(Sadly, cancellations and transfers for all of the hotels have been minimal this year. Too many con-goers and other people in town the same weekend, and a number of people are trying to make a profit by charging for transfers.)
