Map of Peachtree Center Complex from the official site

Downtown Google Map from The Daily Dragon

STREET RENAMING: The City of Atlanta just last week renamed Harris St., the street that runs to the south of the Hyatt, Marriott Marquis, and Hilton, to John Portman Blvd. at Historic Harris St.(how's that for a mouthful). Basically John Portman Blvd. and Harris St. are the same name. The Google Map somehow already has the new name, but other ones will still say Harris St. Most likely the street signs will still say Harris St. as well.

FYI: For those wondering who John Portman is, he's the designer/builder of several of the D*C hotels(Hyatt, Marriott Marquis, Westin) and the Peachtree Center complex with the Food Courts and the older Hamster Tunnels.

Just thought I would mention that the signs still say Harris St. as of this afternoon, at least on the corner of Peachtree and Harris. No idea if they'll be changing the signage before the con.

I am guessing on this map that the blue lines are the skywalks...but what does the big one under Harris St take you to?

The east end of that skywalk goes to a parking garage, and it has an exit in the middle down to a parking lot, not really worth showing on the map.

It will provide shelter part of the way to and from the Sheraton if you're walking. Also is a bypass between Hilton and Hyatt, if you really need to avoid the Marriott.

One thing I think is great about Dragoncon is the downtown location .. I love going from the con to the bars to the con to a 24/7 diner and not having to move my car one damn time. I heard some numbnut saying it should be moved to the huge Congress Center a few years ago so it would be self-contained. I don't feel like attending WalCon. Just thought I would throw out some kudos for the location, which seldom gets mentioned.

Huh. I wonder why they didn't rename it Peachtree.

Question, is there a Publix or other food type store nearby? I can't tell from the maps and since I'll be flying in I'll need to make a food/alcohol run.
