Totally agree, and I'd also add: if you don't really need housekeeping, leave the "Do Not Disturb" sign on your door. My husband and I have no need for new towels or new sheets during our stay, and try to leave the room clean enough that it won't be a huge ordeal to only clean it after we leave.
Even when they aren't booked at or above capacity, hotels go through massive amounts of water every single day to wash sheets and towels that don't really need to be washed yet. Bring your own if you have more than a couple of people, and try to be realistic about when hotel towels/sheets actually need to be washed.
