Hey everyone! So, I registered for D*C 2011 back in February-ish and had my lovely little postcard sitting in my bedroom where it would be hid away until that glorious day when I got to present it after standing in line since sometime in August...
Well, in those awful tornadoes that came through on April 27th, my house was destroyed. My confirmation postcard, being made of paper and all, was flown away to some distant land. I know this isn't exactly REQUIRED to register, but I know it helps move things along.
I e-mailed Dragon*Con from their website 3 or so weeks ago and still haven't received a response. I was wondering if any of you fine people possibly had any advice or any way to directly contact a staff member that could help me out?
I appreciate it!!

Also, I'm sad that I won't be able to wear my Cloud Strife costume to D*C this year due to tornado crapness :(

I'm *so* sorry for happened to you!

I'd suggest sending another email to the office. someone may have blipped over it and missed seeing it - the few times I've had to contact D*C I had very quick response back.

Oh man, I'm so sorry...well, I plain lost mine so no excuse for me, but I'm planning on calling them, not e-mailing since I think it'll work better.

Yeah... I put our postcards in a safe place so I wouldn't lose them... lo and behold! ... Anyway, 70 odd days to track them down. I figure worse comes to worse, we'll have to stand in a longer line.

A few years ago, I had a problem with my postcard getting lost in the mail. Give them a call. They answered and were very helpful and nice.

"If you have questions, or concerns about your pre-registration for Dragon*Con; please contact the Dragon*Con Office directly or call the office during business hours Monday thru Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST at 770-909-0115."

Yes, I had the same issue. My postcard was lost in the mail, and I was able to call and talk to someone about the problem.

I absolutely love that you're still going and that you found your old badge! You f'in rock. Email me your paypal address and I'll send you (on my pay day, Friday) enough to buy yourself a drink at the Hyatt bar when you're there.

Kick ass.

Man, I'm sorry for what you've went through. I'm in the area too, although thankfully, my home suffered no damage - I have some relatives in Tuscaloosa that weren't so lucky. I was sitting here without power for a week! and with everything else I was grateful for it.

I hope everything continues to get better for you and I hope going to DragonCon can lift your spirits! (I know it would mine!)

And how cool is it that you have a badge that survived a tornado! (I really hope that's not inappropriate, but stuff like that amazes me.)

I'm in Huntsville, too. Fortunately for my family, the worst of the damage in our area went just 2 miles south of us.

You don't need the postcard at registration -- I don't know if I've ever had mine.

And... now that I've caught up on LJ, it looks like there may be a slight upgrade to the registration system that will make the postcard an actual part of the process. Good thing I haven't lost mine this year (yet)!

\o/ HOORAY!

Is it in poor taste for me to hope that if you see the person who usually dresses as the wicked witch after she's been crushed by the house, you playfully fall at your knees and ask if she has your postcard? ;D
