Do At Door Badges sell out by Friday?

I won't be getting to DragonCon until late Thursday at the earliest this year. Instead of waiting several hours on Friday in the Pre-Registration line, I am thinking about buying my membership at $120 or 140 on Friday Morning.  Do Four Day Memberships sell out at all during the weekend? I don't think there is a publicly announced cap (like Otakon had to do for a couple of years), but I could be wrong on this. How long is the at Door line on Friday morning?  Thanks for the help.

I can't tell you about selling out, but a few years ago when it was still the 3 hotels, they publicly said that the cap was 30,000. No one believes they abide by it, but that's what they say.

And now that there's four official host hotels and one semi-official, you'd think that number would be 40,000 or 50,000. And of course, that doesn't count non-con-goers staying at the hotels, locals who come in to people watch, people with counterfeit badges, or people for whom "going to DragonCon" means hanging out in the lobby and room parties. So even if they are abiding by a 50,000 attendee cap, there could be a lot more people than that walking around.

That said, I've never heard of either weekend passes or one day passes selling out at all, at least not in the last few years.

I'm not sure I've heard even one instance of them turning someone away who wanted to buy a badge.

Be prepared for a long line on Friday morning. The hard part is the beginning where everyone who is picking up a badge -- whether pre-reg or other -- has to stand in a five hour line that wraps around the building. Make sure you get there as early as possible.

Also, I've never, ever heard of them selling out of four day badges.

We get to the Sheraton and in line by 5am on Friday morning so that we don't have to wait in a huge line by the time everyone else gets there. And even at 5am we're about 20th or so in line. But that line is just to get in. Most people in front of us are pre-registered and we walk right on through to the on-site reg. We'd rather sit out and sleep for a few hours rather than stand and walk slowly for 6 hours around the buildings.
