I was wondering if anyone has any photos of rooms at the Hilton? I'm just wondering what the rooms look like. I've stayed at the Marriott, the Hyatt and the Westin, but I've never seen a room at the Hilton, so I'm just wanting to compare them all. Google isn't helping me much....

Thanks all!

There's a picture or two on the Hilton website.

I don't have a photo, but I can tell you they are on the small side and I had a bad experience this year staying at the Hilton. Tub wouldn't drain, A/C never worked right, etc. It was one of the stuffiest and most humid rooms I've ever had the misfortune of staying in. My husband and I will never stay in the Hilton again.

I had an absolutely horrible experience there a few years ago, much like what you've described. Everyone else has offered nothing but glowing reviews and I was beginning to wonder if I was over-exaggerating the whole thing, so it's nice to know I'm not the only one who had a less than pleasant stay at the Hilton.

It seems like hotel stays are partly the luck of the draw, so for every glowing review, there are a few people who had a bad experience. My stay at the Hilton 2 years ago was wonderful. This year I was at the Sheraton and it was was awful. The room was small, the bathroom was tiny; I hardly had room to get dressed in it. Plus it had a sliding door with no lock!

I read a comment in a thread of hotel reviews where someone mentioned having the same complaint about their room in the Sheraton the year before, and that the room was smaller because it was between two presidential suites. I suspect that there aren't that many rooms like that in the hotel. Most people's reviews of the Sheraton are good. They certainly have normal bathroom doors! We just happened to get a really crappy room assignment when we checked in. So this coming year, it's back to the Hilton for us.

Bad experiences can happen at any hotel, the trick is to look at the overall picture and judge from that.

I personally have never had a bad stay at a Hilton and we stay at one at least 2 a year.

similar to the Marriott. We had a double king and it was pretty roomy, roomier, I think, than our Marriott stays of the similar room config. A larger desk, I think and most rooms had an armchair and a small table tho for the life of me I can't recall if our marriott room had this.

We had no issues, the AC worked. Next year's the third year we're staying with them, and the staff have always been excellent and responsive to our needs.

This is odd, but I swear those same lamps were in the Marriott before. I remember playing with them!

I remember trying to unscrew one of those balls one night when I was bored and I have only stayed in the Marriott. Wonder if when they redesigned the Hilton bought some of their stuff?

I heard about the elevator in flames! Crazy!

its not par say the marriotts stuff. Hotels get their beds, tables, lamps ect all from a catalog. Any hotel can buy that specific lamp.
They also sell their stuff the same way...

No pictures but the room seems fairly normal sized. My friend did have a step in shower in her room instead of a tub/shower which seems to be the norm in most hotels. The king rooms did have enough room on the floor for a queen size air mattress since we had friends stay a few nights with us.

Love love love the Hilton, and usually stay there for non-Con trips to Atlanta as well. The rooms are smaller than the Hyatt (at least in the main tower - never been in the International side), but are laid out well and comfy. The king room definitely has enough room for at least a couple of people on the floor, even with the armchair and desk. As for the look, well, it looks like a Hilton, which is the vanilla of nicer hotels, IMO.

I think the Hilton room are slightly roomier than Mariott. So far I've always gotten the 2 doubles I request. Looking through my pictures, couldn't find one that showed all the space, but a few spots. Is there any certain thing you are wondering about?

accidently deleted my post

Well I could of sworn I took picts of my Hilton room but I cant find them. But we had a king size bed and 4 ppl slept in that like spoons. And also 2 ppl on the floor to the right of the bed on 2 single air mattresses. So theres space.

I was thinking about staying there but then when I went to book the room and was told about the no refund policy on your deposit I quickly changed my mind. God forbid something happen and I need to cancel my reservation I loose about $200. I will be staying somewhere else for this reason alone.

More than likely you would be able to transfer your room to someone on [livejournal.com profile] dragonconrooms. There were a lot of people looking for rooms for D*C 2010. There is already a post for a roomshare for 2011. Personally, I don't like the idea that they are not refunding the first night if you cancel, but I understand why. There was a window out; I don't know what happened, but I would guess someone broke it out. Hopefully, it wasn't a D*C guest, but it's a good possibility.

There have been some reports that the rooms will be non-transferable once you book, but I don't know how accurate they are.

Pretty much like the Marriott's room in size and comfort, but the Hilton is FAR less crowded and easier to get through.

Here are my photos of our Hilton double room shortly after we got into it, hence luggage and stuff everywhere.

Yeah, we probably could have easily done six, but five was more than comfortable.

Just FYI, our room was at the end of the hall by the stairwell, and it looks like our closet space was half what's being shown in those pictures because of it. We only had three people staying in our room, so it wasn't a big deal at all, and we really liked being back where people didn't walk by the room all the time, so it was completely fine, but I just thought I'd throw out the information.

I did Hilton this year. 2011 will be our 4th year and first in a host hotel. I didn't want to take a chance and not get Marriott or Hyatt as I work 50-60 a week and just won't have the time to play phone tag and I really didn't want to do the drunken walk again even only a block away.

Your pics really put my mind at ease.

For the Marriott, the farther away from the elevators you get, the smaller the rooms are. It's a weird design, but that's why we love it. Last year (2009), we had a room all the way at the end. It was TINY. The bathroom door barely cleared the toilet. Our room this year was quite spacious for all of our gear, and we were 4 or 5 rooms down from the elevator.

If you're looking for a room with more space, ask for one closer to the elevators.

The Hilton is just as nice as the Marriott with far less hassles in my experience over the years.

While they are charging a one night non-refundable deposit you can reserve a room now and avoid the whole Marriott / Passkey potential kerfuffle.

With the walkway now I recommend the Hilton over the Marriott to people who ask me where to stay.
