Hey con-goers,
Last year I was able to get a handful of folks interested in running during D*C – I would typically run a few miles up the road to Piedmont Park in midtown and back. Pretty straightforward: meet up in the morning at the Marriott Starbucks and head out on the less-hectic con days, i.e., not Saturday or Sunday. Just seeing who’s interested this year.
On another note, since Dragon*Con is known for big charitable efforts and world records, I wanted to alert fellow runners across the U.S. (or even those who’d just like to be spectators) to the first-ever transcontinental relay run to benefit the One Fund Boston, which helps victims of the Boston Marathon bombings on April 15. Started on July 7 in Venice Beach, CA and ending at the marathon finish line in Boston on June 30, the run consists of 319 different legs through 14 states – in most stages one person carries a special GPS-enabled baton, but there are several legs designed for large groups of runners, including Oklahoma City (11 am 6/18), St. Louis (6 am 6/22), Indianapolis (10:50 pm 6/23), Columbus, OH (6 am 6/25), Pittsburgh (3:05 pm 6/26), and New York City (7:45 pm 6/29). More info at onerunforboston.org.
Thanks, and see you in Atlanta!
