Bella Morte at DragonCon '09

I'm not sure how many have heard of the alternative rock band Bella Morte, but they are performing at DragonCon this year. The performance is set for 1:30 am on Friday (Saturday morning if you want to get technical), September 4th in the Hyatt's Centennial Ballroom.

I browsed back through music tagged post and didn't see anything, so figured I'd make a post.

"Harry Potter" gatherings/photoshoots

Remember D*C 2007 and 2008, where there were not one, but three "Harry Potter" photoshoots, one for each day except Monday? Well, the tradition continues in 2009!

This year, the three "Harry Potter" gatherings will be:

• Friday at 5:30 pm
• Saturday at 7:30 pm
• Sunday at 4:00 pm

All will take place on the tenth floor of the Marriott (aka the "skyline level"), which all elevators in the building go to (yes, same as last year).

The Marriott Marquis and Hilton Atlanta are the OFFICIAL hotels of the Chick-Fil-A bowl and will HOST both teams (University of Alabama & Virginia Tech).  The game is Saturday, Sept. 5th.  I'm also irked that the football fans group rate is/was $40 a night less than our group rate.  Source: http://www.cfabowl.com/FanZone/HotelGuide/tabid/89/Default.aspx

EDIT: I am having a blonde moment, the game on Sept. 5th is the Chick-fil-A Kick Off Game.  Although the Chick-fil-A bowl game's hotel guide (for the game in December) is on the site for the Sept. Game.  It appears that the Omni Hotel and Reniassance Waverly are the Official hotels of the Sept. 5th game.  The site is kinda confusing, and I was too blind with rage to look deeper into the matter.  http://www.chick-fil-akickoffgame.com/HOTELS/tabid/65/Default.aspx 

How many College Football games does Chick-fil-A need to stick their name on anyway?  Both involve ACC and SEC teams which wasn't making the matter any clearer.  But, I'm glad I don't have to boycott their delicious sandwiches, because I was seriously considering it.  Sorry for the confusion and group raising of hackles.  :puts on cutest "I'm sorry, please love me" face a la Puss in Boots:

As an aside, for cheap eats on Monday, September 7th (Labor Day) wear your sports team logo and get a free Chick-fil-A sandwich.  There is a Chick-fil-A location in the food court.

Couple of questions about the Hyatt (parking, badges)

Hello all!

I have a couple of questions concerning the Hyatt.  First, some background: my mother and I are carpooling down to Atlanta for the weekend.  She is planning on visiting some friends and seeing some sights while I am at the con.  I am staying with some friends at the Marriott, but she is going to use the room I have reserved at the Hyatt, with possibly some other people who are arriving on Friday (that will be attending the con).  However, the Hyatt reservation is only Fri-Mon, so she is getting another hotel Thurs. night on the outskirts of Atlanta after dropping me off at the Marriott Thurs. night. 

1.  Since she won't be checking into the Hyatt until early afternoon on Friday, will she be able to get into valet parking?  If not, where is the closest and safest non-valet parking to the Hyatt?  She has asthma, so the closer the better.

2.  She is not planning on attending the con.  She might hang out in the lobby at times, to see the costumes, but mostly she is keeping to herself.  However, I remember in years past they sometimes check badges at the doors.  Will she be able to leave and re-enter the Hyatt without a D*con badge?  I've already warned her that the evenings are especially packed, and if she will need a badge, then we need to factor that in.  I remember two years ago that even people staying at the Hyatt were made to wait outside because it was too crowded inside (that was on Saturday night).  I don't want her to not be able to get to her room if she leaves the hotel!

Dr Horrible Sing - Along Blog?

Just wondering if there is going to be another showing of "Dr Horrible Sing- Along Blog" or the "Buffy Sing Along" this yr? It was great seeing the crowd sing with the musical and would love to see the show again with everyone. Any idea?
