Can Eternal Memeberships be purchased at the con on the first night, i.e., Thursday night, for this year's convention? Or do they have to be purchased beforehand, through the D*C Store at the website? Thanks in advance!

(I checked back through the posts with the eternal tag, but didn't find an answer.)

I'm getting excited. We, Emerald Rose, are playing a whole bunch this year. We play Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday night as well as shows on the concourse. Im getting excited. We will have a new CD out for DC. Woo hooo!

Are you unable to go to the convention, but already have a membership? Get you're money back by transfering it to me! I have airline and hotel accommodations, but no membership, but was unsure if I could afford a membership earlier this year. I would like to be able to not spend $90 as I have a wedding I am paying for at the end of September. Thanks.

Hey everyone,

Someone had posted earlier about a free Collective Soul concert on Saturday and I was able to find more information about it.

What: Chick-Fil-A College Kickoff Pre-party
When: Saturday, September 5, 2009, 10am-6pm
Where: Centennial Olympic Park, 285 International Blvd. NW, Atlanta 30313
Admission: Free! This is an all ages, general admission event.
Details: Come join us as we kick off the NCAA Football season with the biggest pre-party in town! We'll have live music from Collective Soul, Drivin and Cryin and more, a huge FanZone inside the Georgia World Congress Center, and plenty to get you all revved up for the big game with Alabama vs Virginia Tech in the Dome.

I just wanted to warn everyone ahead of time that this is all apart of a massive football pre-game pre rally for the Saturday night game with Alabama vs Virginia Tech.  So for all of Con goers please be advised that the foot traffic and parking  in our area is going to be hectic (if not non-existant) .  Where they are playing is only 4 blocks from the Con so I think parking is going to be the biggest issue.

On a side note,  there are two events on Saturday night in the Con's area, which is the Football Game at the Georgia Dome and Britney Spears at the Philip Arena.

Who has your steampunk at Dragon*Con?

The Alternate History Track has you covered. *

On Thursday night, if you wish, join us at Max Lager's (that restaurant with a giant gear painted on the side!) at around 8 pm for a pre-Con dinner.

On Friday, beginning at 11:30 AM in the Hyatt Piedmont Room, our weekend schedule begins! See http://www.chronotrack.org and [livejournal.com profile] anachrodragon for details.

And, unofficially speaking, be sure to stop by the Hyatt Lobby Bar on Friday night at 7 pm for the Steampunk/Brass Goggles meetup, or if you like things Scottish, Gibney's Pub for the Kilted Happy Hour. :)

The Time Travelers' Ball, our official track party (in conjunction with the awesome folks from the Sci-Fi Literature track) will start on Friday at 10:00 pm in Hanover C/D/E in the Hyatt, with a fashion show and performances for the first hour.

(Also, don't forget to see Abney Park on Friday night at 1:30 am in the Marriott!)

(And remember, until the day of the Con, ALL schedules are subject to change. Some restrictions may apply. Please keep your hands in the vehicle at all times. Void where prohibited.)

* NOTE: I believe the Costuming Track is also presenting at least one steampunk panel, but I do not know their schedule!

So, this is kind of a last minute notice (my apologies), but one of my Victorian costuming buddies and I got the idea of rounding up as many Victorian ladies and gents as we can to have a grand time and have our likenesses taken.

The main point of this shoot is for proper (mostly) period correct Victorian and maybe Edwardian costumes, but we are friendly people and will certainly welcome just about anything Victorian inspired including sci-fi and fantasy with a Victorian twist (like Victorian vampires and Steampunk--even though there's already like 3 Steampunk shoots), media based costumes that aren't *exactly* period correct (like Sweeney Todd or Kuroshitsuji), or even Victorian inspired fashion (like lolita and aristocrat).

Basically, if it's based in Victoriana, we wanna see it!  Especially if it's period correct, but that;s just icing on the proverbial cake.

We haven't finalized a time and location yet, but definitely Friday, most likely early afternoon.

Here it is - the last call and last opportunity to get yourself or your group signed up for the 2009 Dragon*Con Parade before con!

Parade pre-reg closes Monday, August 17, 2009, 11:59 PM Eastern.  Pre-reg and you’ll get one of the super cool, very distinctive, hottest-pink-evah (some call them fuchsia) parade ribbons to attach to your badge. It is after all THE badge accessory to have.  I cannot guarantee you’ll get one if you wait until con to sign-up. This year is shaping up to be another bigger-better-more amazing display of all that makes Dragon*Con as epic as it is.

So, what are you waiting for? Do it! How? Email me with details at dc_parade (at) dragoncon (dot) org or join our yahoo group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dc_parade/  and take advantage of the easy-to-use reg form in the Database section of the group.

Thanks!

JP

Director, Dragon*Con Parade

I've been putting this off for months, hoping that someone else would take the reins or that I would suddenly be imbued with more knowledge, but as we're down to only three weeks left (!!), it's become a now-or-never thing...

Noobage and costuming meetup questions under the cut. )

In the guests' list it says that Leonard Nimoy will be here only on Satruday and Sunday, but on the TrekTrak website, he has just been recently added for a 10:00 am panel on Friday morning.  Can anyone tell me if Nimoy has changed to add Friday as well as Sat and Sun?  Thanks to anyone who responds!!

Signed a lover of all thing Trek.

Hi

Have not been to DC in a while and last time i WAS there they did not have the photo op things and you could just take a picture with the guests when you got an auto, I think some took a small donation for charity. I am just wondering if now will the guests till pose for pictures with you when you get an auto or do you have to buy the photo session thing? These seems to be a new thing at conventions. Also It looks like 2 different people are doing photo sessions. What is the deal with that? Is there not an offical photographer? Also some guests like Catherine Bach, Christine rose, Michael Biehn dont have listings for photo sessions does that mean they will definately take pictures at the tables?Sorry for all the questions
