Anyone know what the hotels situation is?

I know I'm a bit late, and there's been talk of people going to another event booking under D*Con rates. So far, I'm being told everything is booked solid. I don't even need to stay 4 nights, I'm totally flexible. Any advice?

Badge pick-up

When is usually the fastest time to pick up badges? I have weird back issues and last year the line nearly killed me, I was useless the rest of the night & most of the next day. It's only a problem when I'm standing relatively still for more than 10 minutes, so lines for the panels aren't bad because I can just get in line and sit down until the panel opens, so I need any special disability services or anything (just a run-of-the-mill bad back). But the badge line moves to fast to sit and is too long to get through pain-free, so I'd like to make a special effort get there when the line is likely to be the shortest. We're flying into Atlanta on Wednesday, so would first thing on Thursday when they open registration be the quickest, or do people start lining up even before that?
