Thank you to ALL who preordered the Calendar and also to those who purchased the calendar at Dragon*Con! We had a great time signing them on Saturday and Sunday. We are still working toward our goal to donate to the American Diabetes Association, the good and worthy cause that Dragon*Con chose to support this year.

Many people expressed the desire to purchase our calendar but like many, had already spent their money on the convention. The Calendar is still only $20 Dollars a piece and the majority of the funds go directly to the charity. For those that did, and for those that don't know about the Volunteer Vixens Calendar, here is a helpful link:

For those that do not know what the Volunteer Vixens of Dragon*Con are here is a brief glimpse. Volunteer Vixens is a group of girls who all work very hard, volunteering on Staff at Dragon*Con. We work to bring all the fans a wonderful convention. We decided we needed to get together to do something for the Charity Dragon*Con supports each year. Our answer was of course, the Volunteer Vixens Calendar. 12 full color months of beautiful hard working women who love the same things you do. Girls who read, write, and breathe fandoms of all kinds, spent nearly a full year working to bring you the FIRST Volunteer Vixens Calendar. We believed in the cause so much, we paid for our own costumes and supplies for all of the photography involved.

BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!!

In order to continue to do this each year, we need support from you all. Buy a Calendar(the best way to support us). We will gladly send you a copy of this limited edition first print of the Volunteer Vixens Calendar! Feel free to post the banner elsewhere(the link is below, just take out the $ signs). Promote on our behalf! WE would REALLY APPRECIATE IT!!

Not sure if this has been posted, but if you're looking for Battlestar Galactica pics from Dragon*Con 2007, our group has posted several dozen pages of links to our personal collections. We have photos from the parade, our BSG Party on Saturday night, around the halls, and from our daily room parties.

I wanted to make sure and thank the American Sci-Fi Track, especially director Aaron Dunne, for allowing us the fantastic opportunity to host the party that weekend. I was the party director for my group and I know the line-up outside of the Courtland Room in the Hyatt was ridiculous - something like 200+ people waiting to get in. I also realize that not everyone was able to fit into the pint-sized room and were being told a mix of details. We learned huge, important lessons about crowd control for next year, so thank you to everyone who replied to this earlier post and shared their insightful feedback.

Unfortunately, we had no control over what room we were given to host the party in. Though it may have seemed like a circus outside because of the bodycount restriction imposed upon us by hotel staff, the party was nonetheless a big success. We managed to put together a costume contest, a charity raffle, and a mini-concert in one evening without setting anything on fire or having the Cylons jump on top of us. So if this is something you're interested in being a part of for next year, kindly request a bigger conference room from TPTB if they'll have us. We definitely want to accomodate as many fans into our event as possible. The last thing we wanted was to turn anyone down, and I hated to see the evening come to that.

Anyway. The point is, we appreciated every single person patient enough to wait in line and who ultimately contributed to the fun. Though I'm fairly certain they don't have LJs...Aaron Douglas, Jamie Bamber, Mark Sheppard, Richard Hatch, and Kevin Grazier also deserve our thanks for being such entertaining participants. Feel free to email me at athena@colonialfleet.org if you have any questions - or if you just wanna get in touch about next year's plans. Thanks, guys!

I know it's insanely early, but there has been talk on one of the larger Myspace DCon groups of a vampire photo op at DragonCon 2008, so I have started a myspace group specifically for the photo op.

If you're planning a vampire related costume and would like to be involved, feel free to join up.

The "vampire" theme is really broad, so this has the potential to be a really awesome group with a huge variety of characters.

Time and location of the Mass Vampire Photo Op will be decided at a later date.

Every year we see group shoots: HP, DC/Marvel, X-men, etc.

For those of you who have been involved in a group shoot, how have you found out about it? Where else online have you seen for gathering for group shoots?
