Just saw this morning that Aaron Douglas aka:Chief Galen Tyrol is making a repeat appearance. I'm saved from the Doom because of Katee Sackhoff missing out.

Schedule?

Is there a schedule for the con up yet? It seems to me like it was up by now last year. I really need to start looking at what I can't miss, and what I'll die if I miss, and having to choose between the two.

I'm also still looking for people needing/wanting to share a ride from the central North Carolina area.

My husband and I have a room at the Marriott Marquis for Thursday through Monday morning and while we have one friend staying with us, her contribution is in cake and strawberry form due to her lack of funds but high skills in the baking arts. XD

As such, we are looking for 1 person to fill the gap who can pay their part (meaning it would still be 1/3 of the total since said friend's part is now being taken up again by my husband and me).

Requirements:
- non-smoker
- non-drinker
- over 18 years old
- good hygiene
- sense of humor
- must like (or at least tolerate) Star Trek, Stargate, BtVS, Jpop, cartoons (all kinds), online gaming, tabletop gaming (all kinds), books, and bad puns.

I don't think it matters if this person is male or female since we are going to try to get a room with the double bed deal so no one ends up on the floor.

Please comment to this post or email me at gypsy_childe @ hotmail dot com (no spaces, etc., etc.) if you are interested.

Hello All,

This will be my very first time at DragonCon. I need some advice.

I will be driving up from Tallahassee,FL with my fiancee, we have a place to stay. So transportation and lodging are covered.

The trouble is, we might not be able to leave to go until Friday evening, and we are expected to have dinner with family Sunday night if we are in Atlanta, leaving us with only Saturday, part of Sunday and part of Monday.

Is it still worth going, or should we just try again next year?

I have been told previously that there is no way to see everything at DragonCon, but I do want to get my times worth if I am there.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Does anyone know how to tie the holster of a gunbelt to the leg properly? I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it correctly, everytime I try, it comes loose within seconds and looks pretty stupid.

Here are a few items that I will most likely never use again. So it's time to find them new homes. Plus since it is finally almost con time I could use a few extra bucks.

$5 shipping for each item, or $7 with insurance. Shipping discounts will apply to purchasing multiple items. Please comment to claim an item(or if you have questions) and leave and e-mail address you can be contacted at. I prefer payments made with PayPal. My e-mail address is vampirate777 at gmail dot com.

Does anyone know in what tracks or when Peter Beagle will be appearing? And is there a plan to show The Last Unicorn with him there for Q&A or commentary? Thanks to anyone who knows; I looked through some tracks and I'm just not sure where he fits in yet.

EDIT: Thanks for all the help, and I found the screening in the Young Adult track. But, does anyone know whether the commentary will be given *while* the movie is playing? My boyfriend has never seen the film, and I don't think that would be the best way for him to see it for the first time.

In order to have the best possible INVASION party at Dragon*Con, the folks at Plan D Productions wanted me to pass along the following:

Hello all Draconians! Almost a week away and we can't wait to impress you all with the INVASION party's look, music and signature beverages! Think 'post-apocalyptic/zombie/radioactive' theme =)

Until further notice- the INVASION party will take place within the Marriott's 'party wing', primarily because:

1. This year, the Hyatt staff has informed us that outside of the panel rooms & ballrooms, they are encouraging their parties to be less on the noisey side

2. The Hyatt will (somehow) be enforcing a 'no open container'/'no beverage' rule in their main rooms

3. The Marriott staff has informed us that we can be as 'nice & loud as we want to be'. Bonus!

So that leaves us with the Marriott on the first night at least. We are keeping open communications with Gothic Shadows of Dragon*Con on this. We also have rooms at the Hyatt booked- just in case ^_^

In any case, look for the INVASION symbol on flyers everywhere. The door(s) will have a large INVASION symbol so you can't miss it.

*UPDATE* Look for Nathan of ABNEY PARK to stop in over the weekend. He and PAUL MERCER will be performing some music throughout the con including the party!

Final news of the INVASION party will be presented by KYNT and END: THE DJ during the GOTH MUSIC 201 panel Friday at 1pm (see the con book for details).

Expect an amazing display of lighting & sound by INDUSTRIAL LIGHTS & LAZERS, 'exotic' drink specials for those 21+ plus expect some celebrity trainspotting! We have word that Rick Joyce of The Last Dance and Voltaire will be among those stopping in during the wee hours!

Definitely excited! -end:-

To borrow?

Ok, so it is starting to look like teh Dark Saber sword I got comissioned may not be done in time, as the same with my Lightning gunblade. Very disappointed and starting to not like comissioners. Anyway, does anyone here, by chance, have a Dark Saber sword I'd be able to borrow? I asked one person, but she already has enough on her plate and I understood why she couldn't bring hers. But if anyone has one and could bring it that would be wonderful and I'll be forever grateful! I'll buy you dinner or something!! Please let me know. And if there's some odd chance that someone else going will be Lightning, could I borrow your gunblade for my EBK photoshoot? If not I'll just do Saber. I really don't want to do my Pokemon Dawn costume for my EBK shoot considering right now it's the only complete costume I have.
Anyway, leave me a message here. THANKS!!

Also, posting on the other D*CON group.

I just got an email from Quantum Mechanix .com (the people who are licensed to create Battlestar Galactica Products) and while they are suppose to be producing character replica BSG dogtags, these have been in preorder for nearly a year and while these are still on pre-order,  It seems they have created an apology in the form of LICENSED PERSONALIZED DOGTAGS!!  With a turn around time of 4-6 weeks it will be too late for Dragoncon I figured that this would be a good place to post this awesome info.

More info can be found herehttp://www.quantummechanix.com/Artisan%20Dog%20Tags.html

And no I don’t work for Quantum Mechanix nor do I get a commission for any sales, I’m just a huge Fan who wanted to share the news.

Myself and two others are heading to the con the evening of the 29th from Kansas City, Missouri.  There is room for one more passenger and gear in the car, for someone looking for a ride down. We wil be running through St.Louis, to Nashville, and on to Atlanta.  Wouldn't be much trouble to alter the route or make a small side trip to gather up another passenger if someone is needing.  Driver (me) is a tobacco smoker, but I'm a considerate smoker and know how to vent or pull over for a few.
One alternate route I've considered is going south through Little Rock and Memphis for example, so if you needa  ride, leave a post and we'll see what can be arranged!

Thanks, have a good con!

I just spent the last weekend at another convention working with some of the media GoH who are also going to be at DragonCon. I cannot tell you how much fun I had meeting these people. They were all so gracious and so thankful to all their fans.

After meeting Wm. Morgan Sheppard, I was truly shocked at the fact that he wasn't coming to Dragon*Con. I mean, his son will be there (Mark Sheppard) and oh my gosh, the things that Morgan has done - Star Trek VI and TOS,TNG and Voyager, the new TRANSFORMERS movie, Elvira:Mistress of the Dark, Hawk the Slayer, The Prestige, Alias, Charmed... He's voice acted in so many cartoons it's not even funny. You should really go look at his listing at IMDB.

I know he's interested in coming - he's only ever done one convention and he had a blast there - and with Adam Baldwin having cancelled, it's not like there isn't room for him. So any of you out there that are interested in meeting Morgan, we should start an email campaign to let Dragon*Con know that we'd love to meet him! (I understand that may be how Aaron Douglas got booked!)

So if you'd like to see Morgan Sheppard at Dragon*Con, email dragoncon@dragoncon.org or tgennaro (at) cableone (dot) net - or both - and let them know!! (Adrienne Wilkinson - Xena's daughter - is also available and I think this would be a great con for her too!)

When an electronic signal makes everyone in the world insane, the only
slightly crazy Ben must save the woman he loves from the bedlam in the
streets as well as her crazed, sadistic husband. Come see The Signal
Saturday late night in the Learning Center, 1am.

If you are excited about this or any of our other Film Fest Feature Presentations,
why not come talk about them in our forums?

It's that time of year again!  That magical time when the temperatures soar and the Atlanta Radio Theatre Company pulls out all the stops for its biggest show of the year - Dragon*Con!  Details available at www.artc.org, or you can just read the post below.

This year we again present one show only (talk to the convention organizers, this isn't our idea) on Friday, after Opening Ceremonies.  Check the convention schedule to see exactly when that's going to be, but we're planning on taking the stage around 7pm or thereabouts.

In addition to two spectacular announcements, we will be presenting the following audio dramas:
Rory Rammer: Madhouse in the Sky - Rory Rammer is a longtime Dragon*Con favorite.  Come hear what happens as he infiltrates a crooked scheme involving a space sanitarium.  In fact, he infiltrates it a little deeper than he'd originally planned!  Written by Ron N. Butler.

The Challenges of Brave Ragnar - Originally written as an hour long epic, then converted to a thirteen part serial, now distilled down to just the essentials in a thrilling comedic romp detailing Brave Ragnar's quest to defeat the evil changeling and earn the hand of the Princess, all without killing an exceptionally annoying and uninvited sidekick.  Brave Ragnar was first introduced to Dragon*Con audiences in 2005 when we presented part 3 of the serial, On Mortaclock Mountain.  Written by Kelley Swilley.

And don't forget out evil step-sister group, MRAP, as they present Creation is a Circle by Thomas E. Fuller on Monday, near closing ceremonies.  Again, check the convention schedule.

New on CD this year, we bring The Invisible Man by H. G. Wells back into print, packaged together with an episode of The Adventures of the Crimson Hawk: Kraken by Thomas E. Fuller.

There is Adventure in Sound!

Hi, all!

I'm looking to ride share from pretty much anywhere in NC to the con, to help keep costs down. I'm low-maitenance, and have very little in the way of costuming stuff. If anyone has an open seat, please respond!

*OR* !!!

I can drive to the Con, and am looking for people to share the ride. I drive a Grand Cherokee, so there are 3 extra seats, plenty of room for gear, and I can leave from Fayetteville, Winston-Salem, or anywhere in between.

Let me know if you're interested!
-Ken
