Re: Marriott Marquis - Renovation Project
Last week our neighbor, the largest hotel in Atlanta, the Marriott
Marquis, announced Phase Two of an approximate $100 million
revolutionary renovation.. The project has already begun and will
last for approximately 18 months. This renovation project will impact
Peachtree Center to a great degree but in the long run, a very
positive one Colonnade Properties will be routinely meeting with the
Marriott Marquis management staff for any updates that will affect
Peachtree Center and we will notify all tenants of the progress.
Below is some preliminary information that everyone needs to be aware
of:
Basic Exterior Information:
• Construction hours are from 9:00am through 6:00pm, Monday
through Friday.
• Harris Street between Peachtree Center Avenue and Courtland
Street will be closed to through traffic starting on August 14, 2006
and will not be reopened until January 15, 2007,
• Foot traffic will not be allowed along the north side of
Harris Street..
• Deliveries to Marquis One loading dock WILL NOT be
restricted. However, delivery trucks exiting from the loading dock
will have to exit right onto Harris and back to Peachtree Center
Avenue.
• Reserved parkers for Marquis One & Two will be required to
exit at Baker Street. Temporary signage will be added to direct
traffic to the Baker Street exit.
• A fence will be erected on the patio of Marquis One on
Monday, August 14, 2006. A portion of the patio will still be
available for use by tenants.
• Please do not cross into any area that has been blocked of by
barricades or fences as these areas are deemed dangerous.
Basic Interior Information:
• Renovation of the rotunda walkway on the Garden Level between
Marquis One & Two will be a two phase process. A wall will be erected
on the east side of the rotunda that will allow for that area to be
renovated first and when it is complete the west half will be
renovated. This will not impede foot traffic between the buildings at
all however, access to the Marriott Marquis will only be available
via the motor lobby..
• There will be a tremendous amount of noise from cranes and
jack hammers once the demolition starts however, the Marriott
Marquis, general contractor and City Of Atlanta will be monitoring
the noise levels.
• Security for the property will remain the same.
• Updated information will be distributed as necessary.
Thank you for your cooperation as we work to serve you better here at
Peachtree Center.
