This year the DCI Film Fest goes 24 hours a day (so drop into the Hyatt "Learning Center" at 4am or 6am to relax and catch some great films).

And for those of you who get up early for the 8:30am screening on Saturday, there will be a T-Shirt give away.

So, come to Morning Comedy - Bring your coffee & doughnuts (Sat 8:30AM - 1 hr), watch Portrait of a Zombie, The Fridge, Final Sale, and Prayers From Pelham and there will be T-shirts and other free gifts.

Come early as supplies are limited.

Just checked the schedule and no longer see James Callis or Jamie Bamber. Is it confirmed that they cancelled? Richard Hatch is still there, but I'm still bummed. Thanks.

I'm on staff and actually haven't made it to a lot of programming in the last few years.

So, I have a question: Do they allow you to save seats for someone who might not get there until minutes before the panel begins? I'm thinking here the Firefly stuff, 'cause that's what I'm going to be doing my gorram darnedest to make.

Thanks.

For sale!!

I have a large case of Mechwarrior for sale. It includes many rare LE's from DA, FFE, and DFA and one special promo LE from LI. I want to sell the whole lot together. Let me know if you are interested. I will have them at DragonCon so they could be picked up there.

Can anyone make a recommendation for a good sushi restaurant that's within the city limits- it's been awhile since I lived in Atlanta. And I would prefer a place that has other Japanese food as well since I'm going to be taking my sis with us- she refuses to eat sushi, but I will convince her of its fabulousness by the end of the night!

I know Soto is fab but hasn't gotten the best reviews on Citysearch as far as service is concerned. And since it's a con weekend, I don't want the meal to last any longer than it needs to! I've heard people rave about RuSan's, but I've read mixed reviews. I don't mind Americanized sushi or fusion but would prefer a place that's nice and traditional.

Thanks all!

**edit** I'm a vegan, so I only eat avocado/cucumber/asparagus sushi. Any good sushi chef should be able to make something like that, but you never know (especially with fusion places).

Hello fellow D*C fans! A bit of a shameless plug for me and a film I produced that will be playing at the Con. Snow Day, Bloody Snow Day will be playing Sunday at 11:30AM as part of the Parody and Fan Film portion of the fest. It's an homage to the zombie films of yesteryear, with a healthy dose of horror-lovin' comedy.

The plot of Snow Day, Bloody Snow Day,
An unexpected snowstorm strikes Seattle, rendering its population helpless. To make matters worse, the dead have risen from their graves to prey on the city's unsuspecting citizens. From the confines of their living room, four movie club geeks try to make sense of the chaos. A knock at the door signals the arrival of a street-smart mechanic. This dashing stranger manages to translate the foursome's geeky musings into a plan of action; they must get to the television station so that they can tell the population of Seattle how to kill the zombies. Starring Justin Alley, Ben Dunn, Robert Boitor, Tim Tate and Zach Adair.

Once you see it, we'd love to have you swing by the IMDb page for Snow Day... and leave your thoughts! And by all means feel free to let us know what you thought! Drop by the website and all that good stuff. Have a great con and I hope you enjoy the movie!

hello all, quick question...

Can another person pick up my badge if I let them borrow my license? or does it "have" to be the person who registered, that picks it up him/herself?

Also, til' what time is registration open on Thursday night?

The Order of the BoozePack will be hosting a party on Saturday night starting at 11 in the PM and stopping shortly after the booze runs out (this should take a few hours). This will be an 18+ event (21+ to drink) and ID is required. This is mostly to keep the cops from shutting us down, I hate when that happens. We’re also trying to keep Fire Marshal Bill (those who go to Atlanta cons often know of him) off our backs, since he is the suck.

There will be info posted to the [livejournal.com profile] boozepack, so sign up and keep an eye peeled. Also on our website http://www.boozepack.com (mostly still under construction and updated once I get dreamweaver installed again). Anyone who went to Fantasm knows of the boozepack, I was wandering around most of the con passing out my favored beverage from it, and there was much rejoicing.

Do to a problem at my last D*Con party, I have to spell this out: this is my private room and there are cops about, so if you want to get messed up on anything besides booze, do it in your own room. Ritual sacrifice of offenders is authorized, and I like to curry favor with any gods I can afford to.

The room number will be posted in as many places as I can find once I have it, so be ready. Watch for a guy just riding up and down in the elevator as well, that’ll be me pimping for said party.

Hopefully you'll all be at Dragon*Con throughout the weekend, but if you need a break from the festivities or otherwise won't be at the actual convention we'd love if you stopped by to catch our band play Saturday night (9:30pm).

If we don't see you at our show please stop by one of several Gothic/Horror panels we'll be sitting in on. Thanks and have a great weekend!

...

Tears for the Dying is performing publically for the first time this weekend in Atlanta. Click here for instruction on how to reach the club. We are scheduled to begin at 9:30pm and admission is only $5.

We are honored to open for S.I.D.S. who are celebrating the release of their new 7". Stickfigure Records is hosting the event.

Hello all! This year will be my first at Dragon*con, and to say the least I'm very excited about attending!

My question is this, in previous years, I've heard that Voltaire has preformed at the convention. Will they be there this year?

Also, any JSA costumers coming? I'm going as Star Girl aka Star Spangled Kid II. My friend is going to be Star Man. Just wondering if theres any others =)

Thank you!

Would the person asking for "Wish you were here, John" photos for their friend with leukemia please e-mail me ASAP. The LOTR groups Arma of Middle Earth needs to contact you about a group pic before the con parade, and the Dawn Lookalikes need a contact person as well.

Romeo and Ethel the pirates daughter??

And I heard something about a early morning Pirate event that may or maynot be realted to the above.

PLEASE REPLY!!!

Sorry, it's not my journal, but my friend was nice enough to let me put up a post on here.
This would be my first Dragon Con (if I make it), but unfortunantly all the Grey Hound buses heading to Atlanta got cancelled.
Anyways, I wanted to know if anyone was planning on driving to Dragon Con from Texas?
I'm a female looking for a ride from San Antonio (around the surounding area, and Austin).
Will provide gas expence and snacks.
Please contact me at chickedy_Sa(at)hotmail(dot)com ASAP

Since there was a thread on buying booze and not being able to buy on Sunday, the Hyatt bar hours are:

Monday - Saturday 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 a.m.
Sunday 12:30 p.m. - Midnight

http://atlantaregency.hyatt.com/property/hotelinfo/dining/dining_info.jhtml?id=1&ssnav=0

I remember how much of a buzz kill it was to be down there in the thick of things Sunday night when they closed the bar MUCH earlier than we liked! So this is something else to keep in mind.
[identity profile] kleinerkolibri.livejournal.com
ok kids, for any of you who are going to make it out to dragoncon this weekend, we'll all be in our changeling costumes later on saturday evening, running around causing a ruckus....so dress up and join us! let me know if you're planning on it, and we'll keep an eye out for you!

A question for those more in the know - if a person is bringing fliers, adverstisting a future event, that she wants to put out at the con for public consumption, is there proper ettiquette? If she wanted to possibly put these fliers in a track room, would it be best to attempt email/contact the track director before everyone gets there, or ask politely once the con starts? Or, does it work to just find a corner of space in public areas not reserved or occupied by anyone else and just leave them? I don't want to step on anyone's toes - I'd just like to drop off some fliers for a conference that might be of interest to Dragon*con attendees.

Any advice is appreciated! :)

Just a bit of shameless self-promotion. I will have a booth in the Exhibit Hall this weekend. I sell new and collectable SF books. You can find us under the name The Missing Volume or look in the far right corner of the Exhibit Hall. The following writers will be doing signings at my booth at some point during the
weekend.

Peter Beagle, Julie Cochrane, Ann Jacobs, Rosemary Laurey , Sharon Lee, Steve Miller, John Ringo, Alicia Sparks and Michael Z Williamson.

Books will be available for purchase but you don’t need to buy one if you just need signatures in books you all ready have. Books will be available for some of the other Dragoncon guests as well.

If you're coming to Atlanta on Thursday (or before) and your hometown theatre(s) have stopped running RotS, while you're in Atlanta you can see it again. :) Only catch is that the theatres running it are far away from the con.

The schedule through Thursday, September 1st, (can't tell if RotS will be playing past that date in a first-run movie house) is the following:

Cinemark Movies 10
157 Banks Station, Fayetteville, GA 30214

4:05 I 7:00 I 9:55

Regal Town Center 16-Kennesaw
2795 Town Center Drive, Kennesaw, GA 30144

12:20 I 3:45 I 7:15 I 10:25

AMC Mansell Crossing 14
7730 North Point Pkwy, Alpharetta, GA 30022

12:45 6:35

Check at fandango.com for more info.

This is a one-time PSA for Star Wars fans. :)
