From DragonCon.org:
And, we have just been informed by Universal that due to a personal commitment Joss Whedon will not be attending Dragon Con this year.

Let the drama ensue.

ATM Users Urged To Be Careful
08-25-2005 3:55 AM

(Atlanta, GA) -- Police and area banks are warning ATM users to be on the lookout for rigged machines that may be stealing valuable information from customers who use many of the thousands of ATMs in the metro area. At least one ATM near the intersection on Monroe at 10th Street in midtown was found to have a card skimmer and fake keypad used to get pin numbers and bank account information. Police are advising customers to look carefully for anything unusual or out of place before inserting your card into an ATM.

i didn't see times posted on the website--does anyone know when registration opens on saturday? i'm going to be buying a 3 day pass at the door. the adult swim panel is at 10am on saturday and i really want to make that if at all possible. :/

also, has anyone stayed at the super 8 before? their website says they have $10/day covered parking adjacent to the hotel, do you know if i could park there in the morning even though check-in isn't until the afternoon?

I was considering buying a one-day pass for either Friday or Saturday. Does anyone have any experience with this? Are the lines horrible? Do the passes sell out if one doesn't show up by a certain time? Advice is gratefully welcomed.

Hi all.. I plan on using the great energy at dragon*con to do a short film that's been kicking around in my head for awhile. Please let me know if you're interested & I will share the script with you. I am looking for the following characters:

male lead
female lead
team of assassins (5 - 7)
military commander (dressed in camoflauge w/beret cap or hat of some kind)

BASIC PLOT:
The male and female lead are in a hotel room. The assassins break in and abduct them, then take them to the military commander. There is a brief exchange and then they are taken to be killed & disposed of. There is a huge twist, but I plan on doing those scenes when I get back to Washington, DC after the Con. The twist is clear from the script.

DETAILS:

-- compensation: i will take the you out to dinner/lunch & give full credit to you in the film

-- video will be made available on the internet within a few months after the con

-- time committment: Male & Female lead, no more than 3 hours total ... assassins, no more than 2 hours ... military commander, no more than one hour...

-- who am I? I'm a writer/musician/videomaker. I WENT TO THE SAME SCHOOL AS JOSS WHEDON AND LEMONY SNICKETT (DANIEL HANDLER) AND MAJORED IN BOTH FILM AND ENGLISH/WRITING!!!... I know that doesn't give me any more legitimacy, it's just cool.

THANKS!!!!

I was wondering - if I want to see two popular back to back panels that are in the same room, will the powers that be let me stay in my seat, or should I get up halfway through the first one to get in line for the second one (or skip the first one entirely in favor of standing in line)?

I've seen it done both ways at cons in the past . . . once at AWA I had specifically gotten to a room an hour and a half before the event I wanted to see started, and I sat down and watched some weird movie that was playing in the room to an audience of about ten people. Little did I know, a line of three hundred or so people began forming outside about thirty minutes later. I was told to get up when the next event was about to start, but I was pissed off and decided to see how far ignoring these instructions would get me. I ended up being able to stay (in the front row!) I guess because none of the organizers wanted to throw down, but I won't count on that happening at Dragoncon!

I see that Paul McGillion is listed as a guest, but I don't see him anywhere on the schedule grid. Anybody know where he's going to be, when he'll be doing autographs, and that sort of thing?

Question

I know it has been discussed before, but I can't seem to find it here or on the webpage:

Will we able to view the Masquerade from the hotel televisions this year? If so, does this include the Marriott?

MC Chris?

I saw on the guestlist that MC Chris is gonna be a guest, but didn't see anything listing him on the schedule grid. Is he just gonna be on panels or something? I thought for sure he'd perform....hmmmm

Few questions about programming and the like...

1. Will you need tickets for the X panel "Honing Your Psychic Abilites"? Apparently you had to have one last year, so I didn't get in. xP
2. Are there going to be any panels with James and Oliver Phelps (Fred and George Weasley)?
3. What about John Noble (Denethor)?
4. Is the Shindig open to the public, or invite-only?
5. What time will the TV people be showing the Dragon*Con footage/what channel? I want to record it. ^_^
6. When is the Crüxshadows concert? I don't see it on the programming grid.
7. Oh yeah, and one more: Do we need to present the yellow cards in order to get our badges? My boyfriend lost his. :(

Are the Writers Track panels open to everyone? I understand from the website that you must apply for the Writer's Workshop, but I'm talking about the Track where they have workshops like "How to Organize a Writers Group That Works," etc. Does anybody know if this track has a website? Thanks a lot!
