Peter David sometimes does autographs in Comic Alley, and will often go to extra lengths for someone who donates to the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund.

Miss Selina Rosen will autograph just about anywhere one can catch her, but she's worth catching after the end of a late-night panel if your tender ears can withstand it!

Definitely for the current NYT-list authors, if you go to one of their scheduled signings, show up more than half an hour early to get in line. On the plus side, you'll have something with you to read! I was in line Monday morning last year for Ms. Hamilton, and we chatted with each other a bit, helped each other up to our collective feet when it was time to move forward, and held place in line for each other when someone needed to run to the restroom. I fully expect the line for Ms. Bujold to be more of the same, this year.
(I also spent about a third of my time in line trying to make up my mind what I would say, and rehearsing in my head so I wouldn't go slobbery-fangirl-with-coffee-breath. "Thank you" is good but generic, "thank you for $specific_thing_no_other_author_did which I appreciated because $reflection_in_my_life" is better; I didn't see any reactions I could interpret as "okay, nice kid, clean up slobber and have a nice life".)
