This is sort of an off-shoot post from another entry earlier today.

This is my first year trying to get artist sketches at a con. I've got my sketchbook ready and already have a theme for it. I'm just not sure how much money to bring with me. Does anyone happen to know how much any of these guys charge for quick sketches? (Or if they even do quick sketches at all...?)

-Eric Basaldua
-Mark Brooks
-Erik Burnham
-Pat Carlucci
-G.W. Fisher
-Francesco Francavilla
-Shane Glines
-Cully Hamner
-Georges Jeanty
-Joe Jusko
-Rich Larson
-Joseph Michael Linsner
-Nathan Massengill
-Eric Powell (does he do sketches at con's???? I keep reading things that hint towards he doesn't....)
-Steve Rude
-Steve Scott
-Brian Stelfreeze
-Mark Texeira
-Dexter Vines

Long list, I know. Those are the guys I plan on getting around to during DragonCon, at least the way the guest list is now. Not sure if I'll have enough time though, depends on how long it takes them to complete the sketch.

Thanks for any help you wonderful people can provide. :)

I bought a glossy Heaps of Ruination print from Eric Powell and he signed it and did a little sketch by his signature. I do not remember if he did sketches on paper/ objects for people.

Eric doesn't do sketch commissions at shows. He usually will do a little doodle or something if you buy one of his books, though. =)

I know that in my sketchbook I have quick sketches by Eric Basaldua, G.W. Fisher, Cully Hamner, Eric Powell, and Brian Stelfreeze that were all done for free. I did however, buy something from each of their tables, so they might have charged otherwise. These guys all sketch pretty quickly and you should be able to get your sketches completed quickly.

The Mark Texeira sketch I have cost 40 dollars. I am very happy with it however, cuz after I gave him a good deal on some underground comics he hooked me up by painting the sketch with watercolors and acrylics. Because of the detail involved and how busy he was Mark had my sketchbook for pretty much one whole day of Adventurecon.

Haven't had the pleasure of gathering sketches from any of the other guys on your list.

Prepare to spend a lot on Rude and possibly E.Bas.

Eric is pretty cool, and Mark Brooks is nice too. Hamner usually costs around 40-60. Steve Scott does quick little sketches. He gave me a pretty awesome Dr. Doom a while back.

Dexter Vines is an inker and doesn't usually do sketches. Jeanty is an awesome guy and hooked me up last year and at ACE because he remembered me. He was surprised I knew about "American Way", this indie comic he did a few years back. Seriously nice guy, too.

Hope that helps.

Georges Jeanty was at ACE and if I recall correctly, he was charging about $15 for a basic sketch.

However, I drank a lot at ACE, so my memory may be fuzzy...
