Did anyone feel that those 'rave' parties were a little out of control?
I did the 'electropop' gig at 3am on Friday and something else on Saturday that I thought was going to be DJ nemesis but turned out to be something else and.. I love a good dance party but somehow they felt out of control. Perhaps it would have helped had I been drunk off my buns. Once inside, observing the ballroom I did not feel *safe*. It felt like people had quite literally gone in there to forget it was Dragon Con the geek out lets all have a good time and instead jump around and get completely stupid without regard for anyone else. I found myself watching my own back plus a friend or two. I actually had to go to the door staff because one individual thought it was ok to smoke whatever was within the confines of the roll paper- on the dance floor.
After looking forward to getting down and funky all year and in that hope hoping for some 80's/goth I found myself a little concerned at what was going on. The door staff told me that 'Tech Ops' were responsible for inside security but the people I did see with 'security' on their shirts did not seem to be paying a lot of attention to what was going on. I'd pay a little more on my ticket price to have a more defined presence in that ballroom.
Not ranting, just expressing.
Thoughts/opinions welcome.
