Greetings everyone,

The Dragon*Con "Salute II History" Parade group wants you!

"Salute II History" is a group dedicated to the portrayal of world
culture between the years of 1939-45 and its members pay their tribute
to "The Greatest Generation" in the annual Dragon*Con Parade. The WWII
era has played a huge role not only the development of our society but
many other things as well such as science fiction, comic books,
television, video games and cinema and its for these reasons that
"Salute II History" has earned its rightful place among the D*C crowd.
Once again we would like to break out the soldiers and pinup girls for
another memorable display so if you're interested in participating,
gather your gear and report to the Dragon*Con Salute II History Yahoo
Group.

Anyone still need a room?

I was at work (AAA) and thought I'd check to see what was available for hotels in Atlanta during D*Con while I was on our site anyway. To my surprise, the Marriott Marquis came up! ?? Imagine my surprise! I got mine booked right away. So if you're still looking to reserve a room, move quickly. The D*Con rate isn't valid, but there is a deal called Visa Summer Bonus Bucks Promotion that gives a rate of $179 a night, which is only $30 more.

The Marriott is in the middle of a major renovation. Expect to hear construction noises including jack hammers during the day Monday through Friday.

The Marriott staff is more than happy to not tell you about the renovation. If you do not ask about it.

Many trade shows and guests in the last six months have demanded the hotel move them to another hotel due to the noise.

If you think the noise will be gone by D*Con think again. One side of the hotel is being renovated at a time. As each side requires several months of street closures. Baker street next to the Marriott will be closed from July through December.

This is my first DragconCon in seven years, please forgive the newbie question. I reserved a room in the Hyatt Regency as that's the hotel I remember from 2000. Is this the "main" hotel for Con events or are the events all spread out between the three hotels?

Due to a lot of mixed up circumstances this year, I'm looking to book a hotel room this late and it's giving me a major headache. We stayed at the Best Western last year but their rooms are already gone.

Any suggestions on:

Accomadating a group of 5 people?

Lesser-known places within 5-10 min walk?

Any further out areas that can be a little odd after midnight? (Aside from buddy system common sense, of course.)

Thanks.
