I know there are some Wesley Crusher hatahs out there, but Wil Wheaton is a really cool guy. He's a writer and a computer nerd and his blog is a must read!

I found this new service that allows fans to communicate with celebs about how much they'd like them to attend cons or do a show or sign their books. It's ingenius! I'd appreciate it if you guys would help me DEMAND Wil for our Con! It'd be great!

Handy Hotel Reservation info

I've stayed at the Hyatt Regency downtown for DragonCon for years. Take my advice: if you're trying to make reservations, call the LOCAL reservation desk. They work 8-5EST M-F and the number is 404.577.1234. You ask for Internal Reservation Desk. These people know exactly which rooms are booked, what can be done to get you in and pretty much everything related to the Con. The people at the 800# do NOT have access to the same info!

This is how my adventure went this year [from my blog]:

I made our reservation for DragonCon last week via the 800#. It never works out well because those people don't work in the local Hyatt and they don't see all the actual booking info, they only see part of it. I had to book 4 nights rather than 3, etc. etc. So, today I called and talked to Internal Reservations, which is the actual reservation desk at the Hyatt Downtown and not only did I get the res changed to 3 nights rather than 4, but the Reservation Manager remembered me from last year and he gave me a FREE UPGRADE to a suite!! W00t! (We had room issues last year so he hooked us up to make up for it.)

I'm certain that you will have the best results with all of the hotels if you call the local number during normal business hours. I'm sure all hotels have local reservation agents, it's only sensible.

I am wondering if there are people watching/reading/participating in this community who live in the Kansas City area and plan to attend DragonCon this year?

I'm curious how people are planning to travel for thier trips. A few of my friends and I are discussing possibilities for going down there and I'm wondering what other people are up to.
