Coupons for soldiers? Is this still happening?

A couple months back, there was a post here about gathering up manufacturer's coupons to send to soldiers, to use in their commissaries.  I've put off gathering any as I know they're supposed to be less than 90 days (I think?) past their expiration date.  But with con less than a month away now, I have a pile of junk mail I could go through and look for coupons.  Just curious if this is still happening?  And if so, where I would drop the coupons off, at con?

(Also, is there a charity tag or similar?  I looked for something appropriate for this, but nothing jumped out at me.)

I'm interested in this as well ... I'm not an "extreme" couponer (don't get me started, hahah!) but I guess I'm a pretty hardcore couponer. I have lots and lots that I can probably donate by then. Would uncut sheets be OK?

Yes, uncut would be fine! :)

Having lived overseas in the military, they have accepted expired coupons for years and still do....Our local library sends expired coupons overseas on a fairly regular basis...contact the local recruiter or military establishment, they should have information on how to get the coupons to someone who needs them...my mom used to send me hers and for years, I sent mine over to friends in the military...

I don't know if anyone at DC is collecting them, but that would be great....

What DC should really have is a Cell phone drive for charity. How many old cell phones do you folks have? Seriously, those drives are great and can be a huge help to people on a lower tier of life, or abused women's homes etc... and cell phones are small and easy to pack.

I don't know about Dragon*Con, but a friend of mine is spearheading a project to do just this. It has been a great success so far, but more help is always welcome. You can check it out here: http://military.pagannewswirecollective.com/2011/06/clip-for-the-troops/

Hey, that was my post! The response was... underwhelming, so I kind of let it go. But if people are still interested, I will definitely still coordinate it! I am on vacation right now and my internet access is spotty, but when I get back and get organized I will post some info. :)

Have any more details on this project been worked out? Me and mom are totally collecting coupons to send!
