The Mobile App Is Out !!

I just downloaded the app for Android.  This looks like it should be very useful.  Can anyone tell me how it worked out last year?

Used the iOS version last year. Very useful and worked well for me.

Ditto. It's a snazzy app. Much easier to look up stuff there than in the printed program, and scheduling is way easier. And if you download the update with the full schedule before leaving for the con, the updates during con don't seem to take up that much bandwidth, for those of us on data plans.

I LOVED having it last year! Way easier for me visually than the old highlighted paper copy. ...Also didn't lose it.

I've had nothing but trouble with it so far. I hope they get the kinks worked out.

It will get better, but I recommend waiting until a week before con before actually downloading it. Patience is a virtue, unless you like to beta test software.

It's the single most useful thing ever, and it worked beautifully. While I still keep the pocket guide with me for some thing, I almost never use it. However, I don't download the app until a week before con. I don't like beta testing software, and don't want any custom schedule to be lost like last year. Patience is a virtue, and is highly recommended. Besides, it doesn't look like the entire schedule has been uploaded to it yet, and probably won't be until they release the pdf of the pocket guide.

Also keep in mind that both cell phone data and wifi signals are going to be VERY congested during con. If possible, I recommend cancelling out the update when you start the app until late at night or early morning. That sort of defeats the purpose of live updates, but it just won't be possible to complete an actual update otherwise. I'm curious to see if 4G data will be overloaded this year since more people have access to it, and if that will ease up the 3G data congestion any.
