We made our Hilton reservation at the same time we checked out. It was a pleasant surprise.

Did the Hilton take a non-refundable deposit?

Yes

Yes. The Hilton takes a deposit of one night's stay.

Surprisingly, they did not take the deposit at the time my wife made the registration. Supposedly, they'll pull the first night sometime in the next few months though. *fingers crossed*

The Hyatt gave out flyers at check-in announcing that their reservations would open on October 17th.

This is a complete long shot, and I may not even be posting in the right place (for which I apologize!), but hey: better than no shot at all, I guess?

Dave, who was dressed as Luigi Sunday night -- I was the Ramona Flowers you chatted with for a bit up in Pulse. If you see this, shoot me a PM? I am kicking myself for not getting your email or phone number before we parted ways.

I don't think it is; I didn't go to the Yule Ball. Alas! Thank you for the heads-up, though. :)

Noooo :( I was hoping for you! Oh well.

Sorry, removed my comment because I clicked "Post" in the wrong post. Moving it to the right place!

The Shuttle service was completely JACKED!

None of the drivers knew what was going on. The were all stopping at different places. On Friday after waiting for over an hour at the stop by the Westin where the driver dropped us off on Thurs night, with a group of disabled people we just gave up and walked. Later on I found two buses parked back to back in front of the Marriott with both drivers in the back of the same bus just hanging out. When I knocked on the door one driver came up and asked me where I wanted to go, I told her I wanted to know where the correct stops where and she said she would take me anywhere I wanted to go but this was not her bus and she stepped out and went to the other bus and the real driver came up and I had to start the conversation all over again. So I got on and she drove me around and showed me where she was stopping. I asked her about why they were not driving a constant route to all the hotels because we stood forever by the Westin and she said nobody from Dragon Con had met with them to tell them where to go etc. We were never able to catch one of the shuttles again. When I asked at several different DC Information booths about it they said the buses made their own routes, wtf? When I asked the drivers they said nobody told them what to do again, wtf????

Don't get me wrong, these were very nice shuttle buses I was very surprised, but if they sit and wait for people to come up for a ride at one hotel they are no longer a shuttle and are a very expensive taxi stand.
