Feels like the first time

I swore I would goto a "real convention" this year. DragonCon isnt far from MS. I have some questions:

What hotel do you stay at? What are the average rates?

Is there any gaming? (Tabletop, RPG, Board, ect)

What should first timers need to know?

Handling an oversized costume

Has anyone on this group had experience handling a larger-than-life costume at D*C? I'm talking about something on the scale of that fantastic dragon rider.

Does anyone know if the hotels have problems with costumes like these? (I recall one amazing steampunk group being asked to move because the Hyatt thought they were causing congestion and I personally didn't think they were in a bad area.)

As a con-goer, how do you feel about these kinds of costumes? Awesome? Annoying? Both?

I'm also wondering about basic logistics. If one was lucky enough to get a parking spot under the Marriott, I suppose it could be left in the car...

D*C 2009 looks to be great for comics fans

With Mignola and Ramos already announced, and now Darwyn Cooke and Jim Mahfood, D*C 2009 is shaping up to be a great con for comics fans.

(no subject)

Is the red roof inn an ok place to stay for the con, walking and cleanliness wise?
Also, what were the discounted rates for the host hotels, assuming I were able to snag one by calling every day?
