Hey everyone.

By now, prob most everyone still about has heard of the recent updating with the LJ TOS, which I wont rehash here.

I dont believe there will be any effect on us directly; to me, its more symbolic of Livejournal's ongoing fadeout and a major step in that direction.

The community will keep on going as usual as its been in recent times.

I've opened and bulit an archival account of my own LJ at DreamWidth and would encourge everyone else to archive their own LJ as they see fit.

I'll be archiving the dragoncon community over there as well. Since there is already a Dragoncon community under the auspices of longtime community member greenwitch over at DW, there will be a different name for the community archive and it will be strictly an archive of this community which I will reimport regularly especially around and after con.

Staying open as long as we can, but taking precautions for what I fear is the oncoming day that it cant stay open.

EDIT: Dream Width archive community name is dragoncon_lj_archive. For now since its mainly an archive, not going to worry about look and design over there for right now.

2017 DC PARADE REGISTRATION IS OPEN!!

If you'd like to participate in the 2017 Parade, now's the time to sign up to march!

Our parade will roll down Peachtree Street in downtown Atlanta on Saturday, September 2 at 10 AM sharp, rain or shine!

We accept individual and group (2 or more people under one name) entries as well as parade vehicles on the same form. You must be a member of Dragon Con to participate in the parade. Registration will remain open until all space has been reserved at which time it will close with little to no warning.

We will contact you privately if we have any questions or concerns about your entry.

Separate, final vehicle confirmations will be sent June 30. Remember to send us photographs of your vehicle(s) at dc_parade (at) dragoncon (dot)org.

When you successfully register, two (2) things will happen, you’ll receive a response screen letting you know your information has been received and you’ll also receive an auto-reply email containing the information you entered.

If your registration was not successful (information was missing or incorrectly filled out), you should see the form again with instructions regarding what to fix at the top of the page. Correct the entry and submit again.

If you have any problems registering or need to make a change to your entry, email us at dc_parade (at) dragoncon (dot)org.

check your email; long story, but the sheraton is jacking up their price for this year. you need to get in touch with them to approve the additional charge by the 23d of this month (maybe even the 20th) or you could !lose your reservation!

And I've heard that the Whedon'verse track has been canceled as well.

Great con,
I got sick on the way up there, so the first two days were pretty down until I could fight most of it off.
Art Show was great. Dealer Rooms, too, but they seemed smaller, and a few of the old regulars seemed to be missing. I did get a couple of interesting items.
Was it me? Or did it seem not as crowded this year?
Maybe the new arrangement was actually a help.
I'm definitely out of touch with the current crop of actors, though. I just don't watch much TV these days. I didn't recognise but a handful of the guests.

So I'm going as the Ultimate Daredevil version of Elektra, and I want to bring her tranditional sais. I want to know if I'll run into any problem bringing them??? The ones i bought are a silver steel and can be seen here --> (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002DORU1I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1).

They are a little heavier than I wanted, but are really dull, no sharp edge and pose no danger that I can see. I'm not sure how to go about giving them a peace bond, as I don't have a sheath for them.

Once again my favorite posting of the year in here: taking the annual poll to see where everyone is coming in from... NOTE: As usual for the sake of the poll, Metro Atlanta is defined as anywhere within 50 miles of the downtown core. I know its reached out way past that, but it still makes a nice round number. Maybe I'll change it when it hits 100 miles. ;)

Hey everyone...

major apologies this year...two back to back family weddings and assorted family stuff have really slowed me on con prep...and when I was free of family was also free of good net access which didnt help....

I'm going to blow thru most of our pre con standard postings this year over the course of this evening.

First off of course is my annual announcement that Wayne Newton will NOT be playing Atlanta this year during DragonCon weekend...hes currently in residency at Ballys Las Vegas....

EDIT: I have also updated the Pocket Program link.

Daily Dragon at present seems to be farked. Will post meetup update from it as soon as I can.

This is my yearly posting to remind you that If you are planning on buying a multi-day membership for Dragon Con ONSITE at the Convention, please consider filling out the Pre Data Entry form located here http://www.dragoncon.org/dc_pde_barcode.php
This will save them time entering your data into the system and dramatically reduce the time.

Also, bring cash. I mean actual dollar bills and such. Preferably in exact change. This will save you the time of dealing with the credit card machines which puts you at the mercy of Yet Another Digital System That Can Fail.

The app is ok, but I'm a little old school. I recall that last year I found the complete schedule somewhere in the Googleverse. Does anyone know if the schedule will be posted on Google Calendar/Docs/etc?
