Ok, my con was much less fun than usual, but I do understand that my hubby getting horribly sick (before the con started) was NOT actually the fault of anyone responsible for Dragon*Con.
I too experienced the long Atrium lines, but I had no problem getting into the panels I wanted to see. Those Atrium lines are deadly long, but that room can swallow a LONG line.
The Dealer room was quite crowded, but if they do move next year, that would solve that issue nicely - more space for them, more big rooms for possible other uses!
My only real complaint was that the Cruxshadows concert was (as usual) scheduled for insane o'clock - last concert of the night. I wish the better bands could be scheduled earlier in the evening :-) The concert was also as usual the highlight of the Con for me! I've never been to a D*C without them!
I think the main reason the Crüxshadows concert is the last one of the night is that they tend to go for more than the hour the other concerts get, and if they're the last ones of the night they don't mess with acts that have to go on after them. (But having only been to two concerts this con, I might be wrong, to be fair.)
I hadn't thought of that, and I definately would not want a shorter set (though given how poured out they look at the end of their set usually, *they* might not mind).
THIS THIS THIS. Put the big bands on at Midnight, then I can get some decent sleep for the next day! We couldn't stay for CXS this year because we still had to drive 45 minutes back home afterwards. I was really upset, but I knew that we wouldn't get out of the show until at least 3am, and I was already exhausted. It's stupid to have them on at 1:30 in the damn morning, especially since they never start on time anyway.
Figures! We waited around until 12:20, when they finally opened the doors for I:Scintilla, and I was worried they'd push everything back after that. Oh well, they said they were planning a US tour in 2013, so I'll try to catch them there.
I'll just go ahead and assume the show was amazing as usual? :D
Yeah it was really great, but my poor boyfriend was dying (I was READY TO GO for realsies) and so we left after they played "Burning" (or is it "Burn"? I have no idea) which was the song I REALLY wanted to hear. Great show, really. I'd actually be okay with the late time if they did it Saturday night as opposed to Sunday night.
The Marriott Atrium only closed it's doors to a FULL ROOM once during Con. Those that attended anything in the Atrium saw the long lines but also understood there wasa good chance they were getting in.
I'm really glad that they put Cruxshadows on so late. It gives time to party before the show and more importantly it means that they can play a really long set. :)
