The other alternative is to use something like a clear 4G spot. You can get really good reception up in the rooms of the Marriott (8mbit down, 3mbit up on the 41st floor last year) but it's a little pricy. $65 for the modem (which will handle 8 devices at once) and then another $45 for a months unlimited service. It's kinda pricey, but if you're in a clear zone a lot, it might work out well.

OR find someone who has it, and see if they'll let you use it, maybe for a few bucks towards the bandwidth rental...
